Where was that post where you said that you have the utmost respect or our military again?

You certainly change your way of thinking with the tone of your posts when you realize that you have no solid foundation for any argument.

How about these FAA-style jobs with pensions that America can't support? If you're old enough then it's easy to just leave these problems for others to face the consequences of later.

I'm sure this will just get the "peanut gallery" rolling!
You're so unbelievably ignorant to the world around you, that it would be a lot more writing than I'm willing to give you to help educate you.

Regardless, what things has USMCFLYR specifically done? You called him out. What has HE done?

All you've done is lump people that you know NOTHING about into grossly generalized groups that fit your agenda.

USMCFLYR: Don't you remember when you were 18-20 yrs old and knew everything too? Those were the days.

What I am concerned with is my ability to finance an aviation career. My college is taken care of largely through scholarship and is not a real burden. I am aware of the entry-level and regional pay and am not interested in taking out huge loans to make those wages. I would have loved to go the military route; however, my eyesight is a disqualifier.
I'm sure your fellow military members would have loved to have you join their ranks too since you have such high regard for the mission.

AZ - no, not really
I had enough sense not to wade into deep waters on a subject that I knew nothing about. But then again there was no APC for me to try out my chest thumping on either

Don't waste your time and effort trying to "educate" northwest. The user knows that he has nothing of any importance to add to the conversation so he turns to internet troll tactics. Just keep peppering the poster for substance and all will see the wilt from a mile away.

They did a good job of weeding me out. But I maintain that it's a poor use of funds overall. I really wish we didn't have Iraq and Afghanistan either. You get upset when I talk about that but it's a relevant issue to discuss the absolutely brutal national debt, the people who caused it, and what direction the country is going in. Hopefully I won't die anytime soon so I have lots of time around to witness the results of the current decisions being made, as do many others. If you get aggressive about that then that speaks to the ignorance we have from today's leaders.

I must say Canada is an awesome nation and I think they have a lot of good things going for them.

They didn't "weed you out", you said that your eyes were good enough to qualify you or flying. That wouldn't have kept you out of the military if you wished o serve in another capacity. I suggested in another thread that you look into becoming a flight surgeon since you showed an interest in the medical profession.

If you mean that it is against the TOS to have political discussions on APC when you say "[I] get upset", then you are correct, though I can remember no time in the past when we have ever discussed either conflict. If you would like to discuss those issues that you brought up in your post, there are numerous politically motivated forums or you to join.

Yes- Canada is a great nation and one of the great things they have going for them is a military (and they even have airplanes)

The USUHS is not a bad school. Granted, it attracts different applicants in some respects than the other schools but it produces capable graduates. I would prefer my in state school but I think it's a moot point since I barely graduated high school and surely must flunk out of here soon.

I really don't differentiate between parties and sides; I have very little confidence in any of them. I am just interested in the issues facing us today and what is happening. I apologize for my posts being read in a political manner.

I go out for dinner and suddenly choosing the military route sucks, too. Yowza!

btw, dc10- did you happen to read my last post? I already made back all the money spent on flight training by the time I graduated college.

Your path went smoothly, but stuff like this is ghastly. Back to square one. I can appreciate however that you spent within your means and make good money for the time being. Hopefully for the rest of your career although I guess anything could happen in the future.

I wouldn't recommend anyone going to a major aviation university. But I've stated that multiple times already. My path went smoothly because it was planned out to cost as little as possible with maximum return. I had already made over 36,000 dollars off of flying by the time I graduated college at the age of 22.

Anything can happen in the future in ANY career. That is not isolated to aviation in any way, shape, or form.

I agree that wise planning can make a big difference in any path. Before I log off, I realize I derailed the thread a bit so here's something I quoted earlier to bring it back on track.
