You're wasting your time with the tinfoil hat brigade. There aren't many countries that have weaponized drones; there are only a handful of countries that possess a sufficient quantity and quality of weaponized drones capable of this type of attack When one takes that very short list and matches it against countries hostile to SA, the resulting list is one.
It's not like one can walk into a Hobby Lobby and buy weaponized drones.
It's funny how some buy into Iran pulling a Bart Simpson (I didn't do it no one saw me you can't prove it) when there's overwhelming evidence to prove their guilt.

And, in discussing the threat posed by Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, Bush said: "After all, this is the guy who tried to kill my dad."
<snip>
In his speech here, the US leader again said Washington would act alone if the world body fails to take strong action to strip Saddam of any nuclear, chemical, or biological weapons.

"Our nation enters this conflict reluctantly, yet our purpose is sure. The people of the United States and our friends and allies will not live at the mercy of an outlaw regime that threatens the peace with weapons of mass murder.
"We will meet that threat now with our army, air force, navy, coastguard and marines so that we do not have to meet it later with armies of firefighters and police and doctors on the streets of our cities.

More than at any time I think it’s important to be skeptical about anything coming from the current iteration of the federal government (let alone the Saudis). If you’re literally going to lie about the weather for goodness sake (on multiple occasions, for no apparent reason) you’ve really done no favors to your credibility.

They did. Unfortunately some eager beavers in the IC sort of tripped over their cranks in their rush to make the boss happy and may have over stated the case. That lead to inevitable blowback, would have been better to just make the case on it's sound merits, of which there were plenty, rather than inflate it.
There was benefit to taking out Sadam, sent a clear message and it worked. The nation states who are capable of really hurting us, don't. And they keep their proxies in check too, they don't want to be remotely associated with another attack on the US homeland because they are afraid we'd strike back at the usual suspects and just let Allah sort out the guilty and innocent. They like to stir up trouble but they've learned to limit it to a level we can tolerate.
The lesson learned was the same one that the Japanese high command had to learn, despite being warned in advance by Yamamoto (who understood the sleeping bear). The lesson probably sticks for a couple generations.
