i am not saying it is great but as far as scope is concerned they can only use a percentage of the total ASM in any sub service. and every size/class has a percentage. this includes 86 seats and less and turbo props as well.
if i am wrong let me know but to listen to a YOnited guy talk about this as a "hear say" is a joke. he should be a liltle more corncerned about the 150 southwest departures headin his way a day outta Denver!
Losing flying is losing flying... if it's limited to 1% or 5%. It will be hard to watch aircraft do flying that you know you use to do. At nwa we pulled out of YVR and now its going to be a regional plane with nearly as many seats as the DC-9 that use to do the flight. Also in two class configuration. Scope should keep ALL flying that you do on your property.

First off, Ryan's position is stated as "CFII". He is probably not "YOnited". Secondly, he does have a good point. In the mid 90's, the argument was jets or no jets for contract feeders. The agreement was jets are ok, but only 50 seats. Then, airline managements argued for 70 seaters. Most pilot groups reluctantly said ok, some were pressured by bankruptcy and felt like there was no choice. Now 86? Don't think for a minute that ol' Forklift Joe won't outsource your job if it will save a buck. I have not seen the TA, but 86 seat contract feeders sounds like a poison pill to me. Kill it.

Just a humble opinion from a YOnited guy.

Lets take a look at some history.

Approximately one month later, Republic lowers their minimums to 1000/100. Very soon thereafter, they institute a $2,500 bonus for any new hire pilot currently qualified on the CRJ/ERJ-145. These are no doubt tactics to help fill those pilot slots.

At that time, the most junior Eagle captain was a September 1999 hire.

Within about a week, Eagle upgrades 79 pilots to captain, and most junior captain drops to March 2000. There is about 200 pilots between that junior captain and and a January 2004 hire.

I will let you off easy...I'll take Bud Light.

I see your comprehension skills are about as good as your analytical skills. Your posts read like Mike Boyd (master of the obvious and lacking credibility or fundamental reason), yet you seemingly want to be regarded as an industry prophet.

Regarding Republic...your conclusion fails the logic test. When I made my post, RAH had not yet had trouble recruiting which is why I included yet in my post. That they lowered their minimums a month later doesn't change the fact that when I responded to your post they hadn't "had a problem yet..."

Regarding Eagle...you claim that by January 2009 upgrade at Eagle will be 3 years (DOH 1/06). Yet in your comparison between our posts you aptly point out that there are 200 numbers between the junior awarded captain and a January 2004 hire. Wanna guess how many were hired at Eagle between 1/04 and 1/06? For your prediction to come true, there will have to be two years worth of hiring + 200 upgrades in the next 19 months. Do you really think that's going to happen?

I stand by my pledge - if somebody hired at Eagle in January 2006 upgrades before I do I will buy you a case of Bud Light (if you choose such swill) and will UPS Next Day Air or personally deliver it to the destination of your choice.

Are you really a CFI? I admittedly was pretty mouthy as a CFI, but I didn't go around telling airline pilots what they should or shouldn't do...

If they are NOT an "RJ", then the jetBlue pilots have no clue either. They are making "RJ" pay flying them.
Not exactly mainline AC either. Even Embraer says so:
"Embraer's family of E-Jets is a new concept in commercial air transport that blurs the line between regional jets and mainline aircraft."
