I just got summoned to appear, but the issue is that I'm a month into a 121 training program. I've notified my company to see what they advise me to do. Has anyone dealt with this before while in training? I absolutely do not want to delay my training.

Almost every jury duty program has some method to be excused or request a delay. Where I live you get a delay automatically just by asking. The second request for the same summons however requires a very good reason.

Correct, I dealt with this during an IQ. Had to delay a second time, wasn't a big deal at all. Called the number on the summons notice, explained to the head juror or whatever he was called, and he asked a date when I'd be available after training, then told me Delta is his favorite airline and wanted to talk travel for five minutes

You are excused if you are an FFDO.

The company should have your schedule through IOE blocked off. Get that information and tell the reporting agency. Tell them you'd gladly serve after the training is completed.

You could tell them that the company typically only grants exceptions to the published training schedule for deaths in the family....yours. ;-)

A summons is similar to a subpoena. Not a bad idea to ask an attorney, off the record, of course, based on the jurisdiction, being local, city, county, or state.

A friend of mine received their first notice, which would have interfered with a scheduled job interview in another state, requiring relocation. They were granted a delay. Fast forward a month and a half later, and and notice two was received. At this time the individual was in training at a job, requiring relocation to another state. The procedure on the Summons was followed then reached out to the court. The individual was contacted by Court and provided with instructions and documents to be provided to them. Info and certifying letters faxed the same day. The individual was permanently excused from Jury Duty in that State.
