My first year at UAL, I’d commute on DAL on a somewhat regular basis. And about a quarter of the time I’d have one of the guys tell me “hey you know we’re hiring”. I’d always tell them I was not from said Delta hub and was going to be moving back home to my UAL domicile. That my family was near my UAL domicile and we were only living in the Dal hub because I didn’t want to commute while at my regional with no family. Most guys would get it. But there were a few who looked beyond puzzled. And repeated I could probably get hired at DAL and eventually get based in said DAL hub. It made for an interesting conversation.

As a F9 commuter, I've had my fair share of "You got your stuff in?" at a couple of the legacies. I rotate through canned responses, but I've enjoyed going with "Too many DUI's" lately. Nice and quiet afterward.

There was also a time in the the late 2000's that F9 were the highest paid A-320/319 pilots in the US. Didn't last long. There was also a long time that WN pilots were viewed as the laughing stock, scourge-of-the-industry types. I'm glad that BK's and BK-era contracts are a thing of the past (right now) and WN has managed to solidify their position as a much coveted, desirable place to work. Up and up for everybody.
