CJOs from both
Commuting from SLC
Logic says WN, but the 2-4 legs a day are not super appealing.
Alaska trips are easier, still enjoy some over night here and there, and still offers some flexibility in schedule.
Would it be crazy to choose Alaska over WN?
Any WN and AS guys that can provide some good info?

3-5 if you’re west coast based doing mostly California flying maybe. Seems like 2-3 and sometimes 4 is the norm otherwise. We also don’t do red eyes, or red eye turns and Alaska does a ton of those. Even though we have some long duty periods I find the flying not very fatiguing overall due to the consistent AM/PM schedule

You are not wrong, we need much better STD/LTD here at WN, but from everyone I have talked too, albeit a small sample size, that seems to be one they all mention is a no vote without improvement.

What does the upgrade look like at AS? I assume shorter than at SWA. Plus, try to secure one of the last seats on the Airbus while you still can so that you can experience a comfortable cockpit before squeezing into the 737 for the rest of your career….

Right now, I'd say this one comes down to geography, commute options, and work schedules.
The AS disability is a factor too I guess, once you upgrade if you medical out you could literally make it to 65 without having to work if your lifestyle expectations aren't too extravagent.

DEN junior at SWA. SLC-DEN commute super easy, flights every hour on what 4 airlines? SWA will be getting a new contract soon that is going to be better than Alaska’s floor contract within 1/2 years. Pretty easy decision IMO.
