Why would anyone choose to fly 3-5 legs a day over 1 at AS?
In what aspect is WN so much better that makes ppl wanna do regional flying again.... We all went through that path already.
I'm missing something here
Thanks for your responses guys

You should make sure.
Here is the commuter policy for SWA:
- A pilot must attempt to commute on a minimum of two (2) consecutive scheduled flights on Southwest or off-line from the designated city. If, because of flight cancellations, delays, lack of available seating (cabin or jumpseat), or delays beyond the commuter’s control (diversion, etc.), the pilot will be unable to arrive prior to the scheduled report time, the Company will be notified immediately. Alternatively, the second scheduled flight is not required if the primary flight on Southwest is scheduled to arrive in domicile at least one (1) hour prior to check-in.
- The Company will work with the pilot to get him back on his trip as quickly and efficiently as possible, or the pilot may be offered another assignment. If the pilot accepts another assignment, the pay for the newly assigned pairing will serve as the original pay calculation for any subsequent reassignment.
- The pilot will not be paid for the scheduled TFP lost or deadhead to rejoin the original (not newly assigned) pairing.
- The pilot should be prepared to verify that he was present for the two (2) consecutive flights.
- The pilot will not be charged with a no-show, as long as he is in compliance with this Section.
- The pilot’s domicile Chief Pilot may be notified.

Sounds like you made your decision. Best of luck.

I wouldn't bank on one leg days at any NB operation unless you're senior. Or enjoy red-eyes.
I think you'll do fewer legs on average at AS (or any other legacy on NBs), but the overall schedule may be less efficient vis a vis days off than at SWA.
Or you can get hired at big-three, get on a WB immediately or relatively quickly and enjoy one-leg days forever.

Right now, I'd say this one comes down to geography, commute options, and work schedules.
The AS disability is a factor too I guess, once you upgrade if you medical out you could literally make it to 65 without having to work if your lifestyle expectations aren't too extravagent.

Again I think geography matters, all else equal SWA would probably be the way to go but not if it's live in base vs commute (especially with only one end commutable).

I don’t want to do AM trips and I definitely don’t want to do any red-eyes. Avg legs is 2-3 a day…prob 90 min leg avg. Our soft pay and work rules blows AK out of the water.
I’d go where the commute is easier….drive to work if possible.
