SWA or DAL?

Why don't we Monday Morning Quarterback this a tad... isn't that what APC is for?
In mid-2007, where would you be if you were hired at Southwest vs. Delta?
At Southwest, I used a SWA June 2007 hire (AirTran Oct 2004 hires), and they'd be at around 53-54% seniority and holding captain everywhere except ATL (still over 1,000 junior to the plug there).
Anyone from Delta or NWA?

A June ‘07 Delta hire would be just under 60%. They could hold the left seat of the 737 in DTW, LAX, NYC, SEA and SLC but not ATL, MSP or CVG. 700 numbers from holding ATL, 500 from MSP. CVG is a very small category so the plug is very senior.
They could hold the left seat of the 320 in ATL, MSP and NYC but not DTW or SLC.
They could hold the A220 in NYC but not SLC.
They could hold the 717 in all bases (ATL, DTW, LAX, NYC).
They couldn’t hold any widebody captain seat, but could hold the right seat of every widebody except ATL 777.
Sounds like if you got hired at your preference of the two, you are getting the career you expected.

Mechanics Schecanics
[QUOTE=kingairfun;2704349]Is it possible this is also one of the reasons for FAA delay in ETOPS cert.?
Just read an article that SWA ETOPS not being "fast tracked" because the FAA is scrutinizing maintenance practices and the mechanics contract issues.
Wonder if this delays things even further.[/QUOTE
Mechanical issue and practices? Because some JACK WAD told an media type that an airplane was leaking hydraulic fluid after sitting for a week from the flaps?
THE FAA WOULD LAUGH YOU OUT OF THEIR OFFICE IF YOU REPORTED THAT!!! These birds leak virtually EVERYTHING from every seal after sitting for awhile. It's part of working with temperature swings of of up to 210 degrees F. If you cut your tolerances that tight, you would have WAY more problems than some weepy seals after an aircraft has been sitting unused for awhile.
They will seal right back up after you get everything running again. Of course, that should be verified, but you don't write up a bird when changing a tire, when your a wheel and tire mechanic, for things that are "outside of your scope."
Union mechanics are 80% "not my job", "not my problem", "somebody elses job" types, and 20% salt of the earth. I worked as a tech all through high school and college, and I'm an A&P to this day.

I wonder how this guy is doing!
I wonder how this guy is doing, I hope very well. I went where I was accepted and never had any regrets. Wherever I could have ended up, I'd have adjusted and become a cheer leader for my company.
