Default What airline do you work with and how much do you make?

Hey, kind of new here and am wondering how much each of you earn and with which major airline you work with, for how long and if you are captain or first officer.

want to see how much is the most a person can earn with a major airline by working like 30-40 hours a month but getting minimum hour pay.

Just wondering since I heard some people on here say that they earn like 300k, 400k a year but dont understand how thats even possible.

thanks in advance everyone.

I've been flying commercially over 20 years and have never made over $100,000 per year. I'm at a Major now, so I hope to hit the 100K mark in a couple more years. As a Captain I will, but I'm still an FO for now.

I'm sure I may speak for a lot of people here. I would suggest you take a look at the first thread of the forum you just posted on. It starts with the word "Sticky" and ends in "Summer update: Airline Pilot Pay Snapshot" I'm pretty sure you will find the info you were wanting.

We have a dedicated web site that provides the information your requesting, check out http://airlinepilotcentral.com/airlines.html to view airline pay scales complete with an integrated pay calculator.

Also, as mentioned, the Summer 2007 pay snapshot is available here.

Take the hourly pay and multiply it by 1000. It will at least give you a ballpark estimate. There can be many variables depending on company specific contracts. If you want to get rich, this is no longer the profession to pursue.

Dang, what do you recommend instead?

I've been thinking about starting my own restaurant franchise or even my own pyramid scheme. The problem is coming up with that key product that people will want to buy, even if they don't need it, and will come back and buy it again, even if its bad for them in the long run.

If you want to get rich, the best thing you can do for yourself is get an education!
Getting an education will open doors that otherwise would be slammed shut without an education. Get a bachelors degree. Get a masters degree. Get a PHD. Each step up the higher education ladder will open more and more doors.

If you want some general advice for career fields that can earn you some good money, here is what I recommend.
The medical field
No matter what happens, people will always need health care. When we are dealing with serious matters such as being healthy or sick, or choosing between life or death, money is no object. There is always going to be a demand for healthcare. If you want a job that can make you lots of money, and will ensure that you always have a job, become a doctor.
For this, you will need to go to medschool.

Energy
Our world runs on energy. Our economy runs on energy. Without it, both of them would collapse. Right now most of the world's energy comes from natural resources. There is only so much oil in the ground. There is only so much coal in the ground. Energy is becoming more and more expensive (oil hit $76 a barrel today). And the price of oil is only going to go up.
So the question is who is going to develop an alternative to coal and oil. Some people are going to become extremely rich in the next 10,20,30 years. Will you be one of them??
For this, you would want to get an engineering degree.

What do both of these career fields have in common? Among other things, you need an education.
If you really want to become rich, get an education, and go from there.

I'd recommend running an airline. It appears that even if you do a sh!tty job, you still walk away a wealthy man. I'd do it myself but unfortunately I was born with a conscience.

Well,.... this is only partially correct. If you want to be comfortable
or even affluent then education is the key. However, the stats on millionares.... college graduates are in the minority. And in an even smaller minority among self made ultra rich. Most dropped out of college..... (or never went) i suspect it has something to do with creative and independent thought. Education is wonderful and necessary but usually has nothing to do with be coming very rich.

Oh ..... well thanks to Captain Obvious i now know that if i want to become a doctor i will have to go to med school.
