Uh, no. AA and APA had it as did the other major airlines. Originally it was 5 years (10 years?). Post 9/11 it was increased (to unlimited?). Better program at AA vs most of the ALPA carriers. One of the things the anti- APA chanters never mention.

Wierd because our negotiating chair at f9 didn’t go back to AA after 10ish year 911 furlough due to the 30k salary and lga commute. We were in negotiations and there was concern he would go back while we were in mediation. He didn't due in large part to no longevity. You sure about that? Cal didn’t have it nw got it in the merge and UAL went back and forth in bankruptcy. It’s my understanding some ended up with some longevity. No idea if they were ever made whole for the time they didn’t have it?

Everyone at AA got longevity after furlough at AA. It took a while but it happened.

Thats good to hear but unfortunately some had to make a decision after the three year clock was up on recall and before that was true. That and lost earning for some recalls.
Outside of bankruptcy it shouldn’t be a problem going forward. And make a furlough more expensive in the long run compared to 911 furlough provisions.

Yeah I know a lot of folks from AA/TWA/USA who turned down last recall because they had a job with some seniority/longevity and maybe had upgraded and would have taken a big cut in everything for the privilege of coming back. Would some of them be better off today if they had recalled? Yeah probably but they had no way of knowing that, we all knew pilots who got furloughed twice from UA in that era, and rumors were that some got furloughed three times

The AA of today is not the AA of the 90's/00/10's, (at least in terms of the way they dealt with labor).

Ok. I’m not bagging on American or taking an alpa vs apa position. I wouldn’t do that as I’m not at American. Just making the point that furlough outside bankruptcy (where that particular provision can change without much union input) is now more expensive long term. Making it a bit less likely in your standard economic downturn.

This was added at AA long after 911. I remember it was a big deal for some of the TWA guys. I think it was the 2010 to 2014 time frame.

There were some hired after the twa staple and before 911 so they would have been affected as well. I know this because they were in my class at a regional summer 2002 and we had all been furloughed. All excluding myself had to make decisions to go back after 10ish years to first year 30k money due to no longevity. The Problem has been addressed so no need to beat this horse anymore.

I misread your post and train of thought. Longevity (LOS) increase while furloughed didn't come until more recently (in BK??).
