Boeing felt that the test results were unrealistic and inapplicable, given the extremes under which the valve was tested. It stated that the cause of the rudder reversal was more likely psychological and likened the event to a circumstance in which an automobile driver panics during an accident and accidentally presses on the gas pedal rather than the brake pedal. The official position of the FAA was that sufficient probable cause did not exist to substantiate the possibility of rudder system failure.”
If you didn't believe there was a system malfunction, or as was the case in UAL 585 having no evidence of it whatsoever, the most likely cause would be pilot error. Thats a far cry from trying to fabricate an affair or accusing pilots of a murder/suicide. If anyone has references to that I would love to see them.

Saw some clickbait looking FB posting saying cracks are being found. Any credible info about that?

They just grounded the DC-10's too. So I'm guessing they found something.

By “they”, do you mean Boeing or the Feds? I sincerely hope Boeing made this call
on their own.

Hopefully the new CEO realizes that deny and deflect isn’t an effective strategy.

Boeing would like nothing more than to permanently ground the MD-11 fleet. They’ve treated it as a red headed step child and see it as competition for 777F sales. If the MD fleet is grounded Boeing stands to gain billions in orders.

the article was fake click bait. Said they found large cracks in the engine mount but showed pictures from a cracked flap track. AI is getting out of hand.

OMG, that article reads like the National Enquirer. No “Boeing Official” was trying to say there was no issue with the rudder servo. They were fixing it once they found out that caused the crash. This was straight up insurance lawyers. Yes, Boeing’s insurance lawyers, but insurance lawyers. No Boeing executive, investigator, or pilot advanced this. No one really even knows where it came from. From the article looks like it was United pilots.

rick has obviously never met a divorce lawyer, or any other lawyer for that matter.
