This puts it all into perspective. Glad you're back and thankful for modern medicine! Merry Christmas!

Welcome back. Glad you are still alive! Love to pick your brain about how it all went down sometime, but not on this thread. Merry Christmas.

Slight drift here but here you are (happy to have this in another thread for whoever wants it).

Was turning 50 so wanted to get some preventative stuff done for the year. Did annual bloodwork and had been fighting high cholesterol like all my family tree for a long time. Practitioner felt I needed to get a cardiac calcium score test done—well results showed a score where FAA gets involved (above 400) and they don’t care about any subsequent test except for a catherization. We scheduled it through my cardiologist AME and they found it and fixed it. One stent only (but Feds require a second catherization to double check at six months later).

Just got my medical back with special issuance, and as long as my stuff remains the same it’s only paperwork, no further tests and normal FAA protocol every six months for my seat (with a yearly form submission).

That being said I’m on a statin and platelet regimen (cholesterol numbers are in half and LDL is below 70) with no adverse effects.

Note—I had ZERO symptoms outside of what I thought was normal with normal EKG and clear heart ultrasound but had a family history of bypass and stroke related stuff so I wanted to be proactive.

The current WN situation with LOL, STD, LTD, MCBP, and some sick time made this a no-brainer. I’m glad I did it—get your s*#t checked and get it done. Your life is more important than flying.

This. The company can't be happy about it but now's the best time ever for a WN pilot to make sure they don't die early, or to quit going to work hurt.

The calcium test was already on my to do list but you just reinforced it. Thank you for posting as the way I learned about the test was someone a while ago posting about it on the SWAPA forum.

For those that don’t know, it’s readily available, quick and painless and stupid cheap (even if you have to pay out of pocket).
