Spirit Airlines, The National Airline and de-facto Flag Carrier of the United States.

I say we encourage more risk taking and make America great again.

Rugged individualism doesn’t exist in this industry. It’s built on mega mergers, union contracts and seniority lists. Unless you’re going to break up the big airlines and let risk takers take risks, it doesn’t work.
The best risk taking is to take your paycheck and invest in real companies and create financial independence for your family, not by hopping around seniority lists.

What risk are you taking when failure means the US taxpayer will just step in and fix your mistake and make you whole again? Are you really trying to say government bailouts are an example of pulling yourself up by your bootstraps?

The Administration’s interference with Charles Darwin’s and Alfred Wallace’s studies of Natural Selection may alter the outcome of the natural charted progression of Spirit’s existence. What could possibly go wrong?

I honestly think the only reason this is being discussed is to spur on a private buyer of the airline. Nothing gets buyers moving like a threat that someone else might come in and snatch it away. If someone does, I think the administration green-lights it, and the deal gets done quickly. Who would those potential buyers be? That's a great question. If it does end up being the admin dumping $500 million into them, well, I won't love it, but I will choose to see it as buying time for the 14,000 employees there to find other employment.

A due diligence study as to the root cause of the fall from grace must be carried out before throwing a half a billion dollar band aid to fix their ongoing problem. Unfortunately, the rise in fuel costs is a hinderance to the cause too. You may be right about a private concern purchasing the carrier for parting out the assets.

Most likely one of the debtors has some $TRUMP and made the golden phone call at the right time.

Considering the amount of our tax dollars that ultimately goes to fraud and corruption, especially concerning social programs, there are worst things 500 mil could go towards.
