That's really the failure of our generation to raise these kids right. But some things, especially in certain industries should be sacred. Our kids have been subjected to Family Classic Movie night for these reasons. Fast Times is screened the week before freshman year at HS.

Even worse, approaching a line of +40K line of TRW’s, my FO blindly rolls in a new heading based on ATC saying “ it might look better on that heading”. Doesn’t touch radar range, Auto/Manual or tilt, nothing.
When advise he needs to check on his own vs ATC for things like Attenuation, I got the reply, “Attenuation, what’s that?”

All of these movies are pretty deep in Gen X territory, which starts prior to Alien, Star Wars, Smokey and the Bandit, and a smattering of earlier films.
