Showing your age now, you geezer. ;)

Did it last trip too. My FO had never seen Shawshank Redemption and others. Gave him a list LOL.

Boomer culture? I never thought of that. As a Gen X kid I saw Return of the Jedi and Raiders of the Lost Arc in theaters.

Born in 1975 but woke up last birthday with an odd feeling. My FO confirmed it during a long leg when he asked me what movies he should see.

The Lost Decade pilots are now the old guys in the left seat. Aahhhh F.

“Are we awake?”

”We are. But we are very confused.”

"That's what I hate about new hires, man. I get older, they stay the same age"

Funny. My fo yesterday had never even heard of animal house. I was trying to explain how the end of we’re not going to take it was from the movie when he said never heard of that movie. I just said never mind then.

I like to drop Wooderson’s quote from Dazed and Confused and watch the look on their face.(looks like jd got it)

Old School, Wedding Crashers, Tommy Boy. The list in long and distinguished. Movies just don’t seem funny anymore.

sorry for the drift. What’s happening at Spirit isn’t funny either.

I reckon everyone born before 1999 is a boomer to these poor souls.

That's really the failure of our generation to raise these kids right. But some things, especially in certain industries should be sacred. I threatened that CFI kid that the next time I saw him, he better be able to complete the phrase "I feel the need....... " or "You screw up just this much.....", I was revoking his man card and his pilot certificates. And who the *******k doesn't know Spicoli??!!!

Our kids have been subjected to Family Classic Movie night for these reasons. Fast Times is screened the week before freshman year at HS.

Lots of good info in old movies. Like never go full flaps when you are in a race with Knotcher.

Man, what is it with kids these days... I've run into a CFI who hasn't even seen The Right Stuff, Airplane, or even the original Top Gun, and he had no idea about Iron Eagle. I thought the kid was pulling my leg.

I think these movies need to be enshrined in the FAR's for issuance of a Student Pilot certificate.

Even worse, approaching a line of +40K line of TRW’s, my FO blindly rolls in a new heading based on ATC saying “ it might look better on that heading”. Doesn’t touch radar range, Auto/Manual or tilt, nothing.
When advise he needs to check on his own vs ATC for things like Attenuation, I got the reply, “Attenuation, what’s that?”

Never heard of the Southern Air accident as well.

All of these movies are pretty deep in Gen X territory, which starts prior to Alien, Star Wars, Smokey and the Bandit, and a smattering of earlier films.

Off to find a Deeablo sammich and a Dr. Peppah.

Q- "Have you seen the new PBS program?"

A- "Have you seen my Baseball?"

Blank stare. Heaven forbid we have a little fun, even if the younger guys/gals don't get the movie references.
