Legacy pay comparison

nK, just to clarify a misunderstanding, I DO think that we should ask for higher pay. Looking at your peer group that is making more is only one of many tools in the negotiation tool box. Wasn't it United that asked for Delta+ 1% or vice-versa? We have plenty of other justifications, just not the 'other guys are making more' one this time. I truly hope we can all negotiate better contracts.
Ok. I thought you were saying that you guys couldn't justify asking for higher pay at all. It's all cleared up in my book.

PMFJI, but it was stated earlier that SWA's contract was negotiated in '95. They did not set the bar higher than other carriers at that time. IIRC, UAL's contract pre-C2K topped SWA on narrow body pay. So for you to state that SWA set the narrow body pay at a high level is truly distorting the facts.

Your are back? I will be watching for the continuous misinformation presented by your UAL compadres (not you of course). Just standing by!

Delta got United plus one. Honestly, I'm surprised you don't know the story of United's summer of 2000.
Southwest's contract became amendable over a year ago. What is the current status of negotiations? Has your union leadership come forward with a proprosal? Has a strike preparation committee been formed? I'm curious as to why your pilot group isn't banging the drum to get the talks jumpstarted, or are you satisfied with what your current contract?

Please don't concern yourself too much about our contract negotiatons. Rest assured that we will raise the bar for SWA and our employees and not a bunch of ME First types!

The summer of 2000 was not pretty! I lived through it as well as your previous customers and many of your fellow employees. Was it a nightmare or what?

That is not exactly true. SWA's rates today have very little to do with the old contract. Post 9/11, while everyone else was doing give backs, SWA/SWAPA negotiated an extension agreement that established today's rates. Even though it was technically an extension of the previous contract, the agreement had the highest pay rate increases of any previous SWA contract plus a multitude of improvements in many other areas, more so even than the original contract it extended.

Furthermore, if you work at SWA then your second quote is a bit of an oxymoron.
My point is that pay isn't everything, some folks prefer a different schedule after they've done the up and down domestic stuff.
Good luck guys, and try to remember we're all on the same team here.

yea where is this thread going exactly. Why trash SWA for being the highest paid 737 carrier? Sure it must be horrible to fly all those legs till the day you retire. Im a one to two-leg kind of guy myself (although its cold here in amsterdam cant wait to leave).
As for the legacies, whos going to be the first the pave the road to recovery with the equivalent of a Fdx/UPS +1 contract?
