Pre Screen at Delta
#61
Hey,
Has anyone out there done the pre-screen with Delta recently and can you tell me how long you waited before getting the "email"... Has anyone done the pre-screen and not gotten the follow up email. Just trying to get an accurate reference for a how long an expected wait could be. Thanks again all.

I was given a number to call to do the prescreen but they didn't respond to my message. Someone said that they might not be doing them so I backed off to not come across as that annoying guy until I could confirm whether or not they were actually doing them. Ends up, I think that they are doing them. Either way, I received an e-mail for the actual interview about two weeks from getting a number to call about the prescreen (which I ended up not doing for the above reasons).

Talked to some people in the dept. They stated that they were not going to do the pre screens. It may change again, but that was the info as of a few weeks ago.
Most that did the prescreen got the invite, so it may not be necessary now.

Delta Guys
Can anyone that did a pre-screen tell me "about" how long it took them to recieve the invite for the interview. I've done a pre-screen recently and just trying to ease some anxiety. Or has anyone done a pre-screen and not gotten the call??
Thanks again - ID

Pre screen to interview invite (e-mail) to four weeks for me, plus a line pilot friend went by the recruiting office. I'm not sure what tipped the balance, I was knocking on several doors when one opened.

Buck,
did you have your friend walk into recruiting after the pre-screen to stir the pot or did he actually get you the pre-screen and then it took about 4 weeks. just curious man. I've got around 800 PIC and 2100 TT all ME heavy military. Hopefully I made a good impression.

Friend walked in resume and called me with a phone number. I called it the next day and set-up a time in ATL for one week later. Purchased a ticket on Delta and met with Asst CPO for about thirty minutes. Mostly shooting the breeze about background etc while looking at my resume though every minute there was an interview I'm sure. Told me he would give his strongest rec to HR. Got an e-mail next mornig saying to add some stuff to app. Fixed that day and emailed back with my apologies and many thanks for looking at my app. Got e-mail an hour later for interview invite. Set-up for thirty days later and got the nod. My app was in the system for about three months and probably would still be there if not for my friend walking in my resume. Pull some strings and get your friend to walk-in your resume. Do not take a msg board or "some guy heard that they are not taking pre-screens" as an answer. I'm sure if your sponsor walked in the CP office he would only politely be told not at this time if that is in fact true. Advice: Even though they only say to bring a copy of your resume for the pre-screen I also brought a copy of my app and he went through it as he went through the interview process. He gave q's that the panel may ask based on my background. Good luck.

If you fail the panel interview you are done. If you fail a test you can re-take in 6 months. You have to do everything over. All 3 exams and the panel. One guy was doing this my interview day and was not offered though he felt he did much better all the way around. Best to get it right the first time. I imagine most airline interviewers look at this like a checkride bust.
