Crash pads
I start at AirTran next month. Does anyone have any info on crash pads around ATL. A friend of mine has one for 250/mth. Just wondering if that is a pretty good average price for a pad while in training.

Yep, $250 is about the norm in ATL. There are some new houses north of Virginia Ave behind Wellesley and Comfort Suites that are being rented as crashpads. They are pretty clean and nicely finished by crashpad standards.

I had a crash pad in Riverdale (about 4 1/2 miles south of the training center off 314 & near Fayettville). The guy who owns it is an AirTran B737 guy & he charges different amounts depending on what your status is (Training, Reserve, or Line holder & how much room you want). It is a nice place w/cable, internet, etc. & a quiet neigborhood. Training center or parking lot in 10 mins. I paid $250/month to have 1/2 a room. The phone number is 404-944-7767. He has a web site out there somewhere & there are ads for it in the training center.
As for a write off on taxes, some people will use it while they are in training (along with hotels) since living within the 2 hour call out distance by contract is not "conducive" for training. But, after that technically you are using the crash pad because you "choose not to live in domicile".
