how exactly would this codeshare work? would it be basically contracted flying under a different name? wouldnt this mean skywest would have to start doing their own "branded" at-risk flying in the RJ?

No one is in the "hunt" for RJ flying!!!

If for some reason WN bought 190's they would be flown by those on the WN seniority list.

This includes any "branded" flying I.E. Southwest Express, Connection, Airlink, Eagle, or any other name you want to call it.

END OF DISCUSSION!!!!

Why would they even consider the E190 when the 737-600 is of comperabe size? Granted the -600 would be slightly more to operate than a 190, but it would keep the common fleet type.

But look at what you get..... Before you would have gotten a meal (food/drinks), a pillow, blanket, likely a window/aisle with no one in the middle and maybe an inch more leg room. Even though its cheaper cost now, its also skimpy on the service provided.

When you can fly the thing to approaching the limit of its range with full folks and bring your carry on on board and not get rained on while boarding and not need some crazy adapter to hook up to a normal size jetway if you have one and not need to see the chiropractor after sitting in the seat less than 2 hours, THEN they won't be regional.
Ride on one of our 145XRs or weight modded 145s..... They CAN take 50 plus the jumper. Yes, we use jetways.

And the comments about RJ's and uncomfortable???? Have any of you ever ridden middle seat on any boeing/airbus?!? Id GLADLY take ANY RJ seat over a middle seat. And mind you those middle seats tend to be on the longer flights...... 4+ hours crammed in a middle seat vs. 3 or less on an RJ....you decide.....

This rumor is entertaining at best.... Unless some other airline is going to pay the capital and be exposed to the potential downfall, I don't see WN flying this one anytime soon.

What about an arrangement sorta along the lines of your deal with ATA?

The media still refers to the "regionals" as "commuters". I was watching the ABC news report about the near midair recently and they referred to the two planes as "commuter jets"!

Has this been any topic of discussion with respect to your new contract negotiations?

This may be way off, but is it possible that they may be positioning themselves for a power move or somethig like that? May be the reason they have been so conservative with their cash on hand, either that or they may know something the rest of us don't...and just waiting for the right time.

Just had to chime in with a "damn straight." I just did CLE-MIA and CLE-DEN turns in the XR last week with 50 smiling faces each time. No weight restrictions, no stops, no skimping on fuel. Plus, I'll glady fly on an ERJ any day of the week over a 737. Get an A row seat and you get more legroom than a 737 with both a window and an aisle seat in one.

Okay, back to your regularly scheduled thread.

and the 170/175 generally have better pitch and seat width than the 737....
