See my previous post regarding the excess lump sum payout. Their monthly benefit does not decrease, only their lump sum decreases if they qualify ie widebody guys.

Yeah, I guess it should be, but I'm holding off until I know for sure!

Grew up in MSP and would love to be based there. How long would it take to get based there in any aircraft?

I have a friend that started the end of Oct. 07, and was awarded DTW. Placed his bid for MSP (his is on the 9) and was awared MSP for March I believe.

My guess is that with a defined benefit plan the sooner you begin taking money out the more money you get over the long term.

Go to work for 12-14 days a month and make $14,000-15,000 per month, or stay home and have zero responsibility and make $10,000 plus?
In addition, if the widebody guys stick around their lump sum payout will actually decrease past age 60.
If the MSP retirement wall is any indication, of the 12 retirees, 5 are early retirements. I think and hope that those percentages will not change.
I just went through the interview process with NWA. During the interview, I asked "how will age 65 effect the staffing at NWA?"

The response was exactly what you just said. Since the pensions are frozen, the pilots aren't expected to stay past age 60 (from the HR team).

I have an interview coming up with NWA and my question now would be how would a merger with Delta or anybody else affect the new hire.

Some speculate that the NWA newhire might be forced back to Compass.

Thoughts or insights anyone?
