NWA ....I need some inside info
I have an interview scheduled after the first of the new year and would like the 411 on the interview profile.
Also, in light of the sixty five thing, how will that impact the newbs?? No growth no movement. With some growth the stagnation might be mitigated somewhat. Does anyone have any dirt on their plans for 2008?

Hiring right now is for mostly attrition, and about 2 percent growth for 2008. DC9 is still around for a few years, but who knows what is the replacement a/c? Do they intend to furlough all the newhire to compass, or a new airframe on the horizion?? Nobody knows...

You won't find much info regarding the interview. You will be required to sign a nondisclosure agreement as part of NWA's effort to protect the integrity of the process.
There is some basic information provided on a couple of the interview prep sites (Will Fly For Food, etc.). Good Luck!

The last I heard was NWA wanted to hire 350-400 pilots in 08 due to them being short handed. It seems like there is a great deal of international growth out of SEA, MSP, DTW, PDX in the 330, and this of course will require additional crews.

Personally, I think age 65 will not affect NWA as much as USAir, United and Delta. The top 2000 plus guys still have a full, frozen pension. All the widebody guys can retire at 60 and see $10,000 per month plus a lump sum payout when they leave for $250,000 +. I know they can stick around and make more than that, but what would you do? Go to work for 12-14 days a month and make $14,000-15,000 per month, or stay home and have zero responsibility and make $10,000 plus?
In addition, if the widebody guys stick around their lump sum payout will actually decrease past age 60.
If the MSP retirement wall is any indication, of the 12 retirees, 5 are early retirements. I think and hope that those percentages will not change.

Word on the street is Bombardier C-series once it comes out around 2013-ish, keep current DC9s till then. We all know what the "word on the street" is worth.

NWA has already announced that as the DC-9 gets to it's next "Heavy Check" they will be parked. There is no replacement and they have no intention of getting a replacement as long as Compass will fly their 175's for peanuts.
As far as age 65; Most of the people I have flown with claim they are leaving by age 60 and many say earlier. However, the guy I just flew with (age 57) was absolutely giddy that he can stay till 65! It's probably a good bet that least 50% will stay past 60.

Our MEC just sent us an e-mail explaining that somehow the guys who stay past 60 pensions will decrease. Please don't ask me how. But, whatever it is they are saying if you stay past 60; less money for you. If anyone knows how, do tell.....
