Default CAL benefits

Can anyone give me a quick rundown on some of the CAL benefits?

(medical/dental cost for family)
(profit sharing...how it works)
(travel benefits...is it all space-a or can you pay for postive space at a reduced fare?)

Any info will be appreciated

For your first six months try ABSOLUTELY NONE.

What a great place to work.

That's an awesome benefit! That way you're surprised when the offer anything extra.

Honestly....after six months....what are the benefits?

-insurance two of us about 200 no deductable-can vary.
-travel benefits suck because the flights are full.
positve space at slightly reduced rate, by slightly you can probably find something cheaper on another website.
-profit sharing this year 10% of pretax income, and then it is heavily taxed.
-not knowing which uniform to wear into work tomorrow

Not exactly true but close. You do get flight benefits, except buddy and vacation passes, right away. Having a spouse with insurance and/or military coverage is definitely a plus.

Cosmo,

The medical/dental/vision plans are about 250 a mos with a 500 deductible. The providers are BCBS or Cigna. The plans are better than what Delta has and about the same as SWA for a little more money. You can make any plan that fits your family and the price will adjust accordingly. Bottom line, not a bad plan.

Travel benefits begin for you and family, parents included, at day. Buddy passes come 6 mos later and you get more every 6mos. Flights can be full and a challenge to work with but paying 15.00 each way is still better than 200+ bucks if you have some flexibility. I can go from IAH to Paris tomorrow with no problems and all for 60 bucks roundtrip. Plus, it is good that our flights are full with paying passengers.
You can buy a ID90 ticket at a reduced rate on other airlines as well. Options abound if you are not pressed for a hard time.
I worked for Delta in the ealry 90s and it is still the same, you have to be a little flexible to travel standby. Still worth the cost savings and you can get the airline employee discount at a lot of hotels. Travel is cheaper than before for me and the family than in the Marine Corps.
Profit share is good but it is taxed at the bonus rate like any job. However, if you put it all in pretax 401K, it is a moot point.
I will be happy to answer any questions you have.

BTW...I will PM you tomorrow with the gouge.

Great info; Thanks flybynuts

ID90 tickets? What type of rates are these...a percentage of full fare? Any examples you can think of to demostrate actual cost. I like the idea of paying a little to get firm vacation plans vs. sitting standby. I think Alaska has some decent travel benies with flying postive space but not sure if that's applicable at CAL or any of the other Legacies.

Thanks again all

if you are talking about coair fares be carefull because if the flight it oversold you are the first to get the boot no matter when you checked in. I know of 2 people who were pulled off first. they told them that they weren't non-reving but bought the ticket. the gate agent said they were the first to get pulled on an oversold flight because they weren't really a customer but an employee. from what I've gathered they don't quarantee anything but being ahead of all the non-revs.

I agree, thats why I would never buy one. I just researched a coair fare, and from IAH to EWR tomorrow you will pay 1007 on coair and 960 on travelocity. I believe the travelocity price is pre-tax so roughly the same price, and like you said being an employee you will not be looked at like a customer.

90% off regular fares. Still standby. Pretty much all airlines. SWA is $25/per flight.
