Also, has it been verified that the NWA group is not being offered the same 3.5% equity stake in the new airline?

Good luck to both sides.
It wasn't just the equity stake, NWA was negotiating a combined agreement with DAL and DALPA which would have included more than just an equity stake. With one caveat. NWA thought the last seniority list integration from DALPA was disproportionately unfair to NWA pilots. The caveat was NWALPA had to agree to the DALPA integration offer, or negotiations on a combined contract were over. NWA offered arbitration as a method to conclude the seniority question, but DALPA called arbitration a failed process and a non-starter. My understanding is that both sides then walked away.

Wink Great Kool-Aid

It always amazed me that whenever a new MEC Chairman was elected, there was the inevitable sabre rattling, the tough talk and the commitment that "I'm going to the Board and demand a ____% payraise for you all, new duty, increased per diem rates rigs, yada, yada, yada and they can't shove us around. We'll show 'em"

After a few Board meetings, a lot of company kool-aid, a few fancy dinners, cigars and "wine and dine affairs", the new Board member (MEC Chairman) would come running back to the MEC with his tail tucked between his legs and whimper "Gosh folks, the company really is in trouble. We have to give them a 10% pay and benefit concession or else". I saw it too many times. Must have been powerful kool-aid !!

Anyone on this forum old enough to remember Captain Dennis Higgins at Continental ?? There was a union pilot !!

When you guys are done DL bashing let me know. It was nice to see when we had a great contract in 2001,2002 and 2003 how all the other unionized pilot groups stepped up to the plate to support our wage level.Don't even begin to throw stones until you raise the bar. We all do what we can to further our collective careers as our MEC's best see fit. Sometimes we agree other times we don't.

This isn't Delta bashing, this is Lee Moak bashing. It cannot be overstated that you do not want an MEC Chairman hanging with the boys on the board.

If I was a Delta pilot, I'd be looking to find a way to reign in this fellow.

How's your contract going..... oppppps, never mind. Based on results are you really ready to criticize someone who secured the first contract improvements of ANY legacy/network carrier since 9/11 2001? You are undoubtedly aware how well the media normally reports on aviation matters. What makes you think they suddenly got it right and this article is 100% accurate and unbiased. Curious they knew where to find the pilot who led the recently failed recall effort. Methinks some sour grapes being fed to the press by a sore loser.

Based solely on results, Moaks my man for now. Until I feel he's not best representing my interest, he can smoke Cubans with whomever he wants. Keep your enemies closer.

No one is bashing Delta from what I've read here.

All of this "Band of Brothers" talk is fine, but, after all of the BS dies down, each group will try and look after #1. Moak is doing exactly what he was elected to do.

How's our contract going? Our contract sucks. Why? Mainly because it was put together by a chairman who thought he was one of the boys, but wasn't. He ended up getting his arse handed to him and we all lost. How did contract 2000 go? I'd say pretty good. But then, we had a good man running the MEC back then.

Thanks for helping me make my point.

Pilot's sure are creatures of habit. let's continue to use methods that have not worked, shall we. When are we going to realize that the "tried and true way no longer works"? Name one pilot group that is happy with their contract, then you can tell me that captain's Moak's approach doesn't work. Each company has it's own MEC. Why? To represent that companies pilots. Moak's way may not be appreciated now, but it will be in good time. Unfortunately, desperate times call for desperate measures and I, for one, am glad that we have someone that is willing to step up and take the heat for taking a new approach. His primary role is to make sure that the pilot's who have elected him get the best representation their is. Moak's amicable relationship doesn't seem to hinder his ability to fight for the pilots he represents. Once again, give me one example of a pilot group that has hostile relations with their management who are happy with their contract. Perhaps then you can convince me that one way works better than the other. Until then, I will sit back a take note when the time comes for other airline mergers. Show me how it's done right, fellas. Because, I have yet to see one merger that has happened in the last several years, that should be a model for all the rest of us to follow...Perhaps this one will be become that in good time.
