Hopefully if they leave CAL they understand they've burned a MAJOR bridge and whoever recommended them will no longer have ANY chance of getting someone else hired. I've seen a few "friendships" go sour because of this and pilots credibility lost too.

This industry must take a serious look in the mirror and it needs to fix how it hires and how it's going to handle senority issues. I can't think of any other industry that has as high of experience required just to land an entry level position in the company ... and for cheap wages.
My dad always tells me, "If you were a doctor, lawyer, or any other professional, and you studied as hard as you do for your flying career, you'd be the best damn doctor, lawyer, or professional I've ever seen!"
Makes me wonder ...

That's the problem with your airline and others (mine included). If someone leaves the company for another, they should be happy for the person. They probably weren't happy with their current situation and the company should be happy to see them leave. Why would a company want an unhappy employee working for them? How can you blame a guy if the person he recommends quits?

If Continental is typing their 737 F/Os, that's their problem, not the F/O that wants to leave. If it's a Captain that's leaving, the company got their moneys worth out of him, and it should send a message to the EMT

Agree,
I'll bet the managers at CAL aren't losing any sleep over the millions they are paid per year while losing money.
If I would be more happy at SWA than CAL I'd leave in a heartbeat and if my friend that recommended me doesn't like it than too bad.

Being in the pool isn't a job guarantee. You are not 'hired' till you start day one of ground school. So they still need to hire 380 but would need to interview more to get the pool up to that number to fill all seats in future classes.

PD told me the pool is around 220. Not sure if that includes people already scheduled for future classes. But the training center is starting to ramp up again.
According to PD, they hope to start interviewing in the fall, if all goes well. They want to keep a bank of 100 poolies so they have flexibility with classes.
