What an idiotic statement. If you honestly believe that you are one strange cat.
I left CAL for UPS and all five of my sponsors were glad that I left, knowing that it showed CAL management that they have to do more to keep pilots. More $$ and benefits for all if they cannot retain employees. Out of my CAL new hire class in 2006, four of us left out of 19.
Is it really that hard for you to understand? After reading some of your posts, I think you are somewhat confused about the way the world works.
One more thing, I'm still friends with and talk to all of my sponsors, of which, two have also quit CAL for greener pastures. CAL ain't the bees knees Karl.

You work at UPS, and NOT CAL, so how the heck would you know our policies so well? Well, I have news for you Mr. Know it ALL, YOU ARE WRONG. Read a few of the other posts. Think all you want, but I'll bet I know a bit more about CAL than you do. BTW, you can enjoy all the boxes you want, I'll enjoy first class dinners. I flew freight for 3.5 years, and I prefer CAL to what I was doing....

I suppose 2 pilots and an FA laughing their butts off in the cockpit (yes, I'll call it that) while passengers are boarding on a 20 minute turn would be foreign to you? THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE and why you (or people as uptight as you) wouldn't fit in. Please stay away!!!!
Oh yes, the thread topic. Rumors abound. Domestic expansion for SW. Codeshare for International (initially).
[Subject to change, etc]
I know CAL guys and know that they do not mirror your posts.
Good luck to you and them as well!
PS - I bet you wear a hat, too.

We had 3 hotties today on my SW trip and saw a rack up front. What was your last trip like? Enjoy your disdain for boxes, whatever you have in back and your first class meal!

Here's the bottom line - flying an airliner from point A to B is not impressive nor is it overly enjoyable. In fact, most times it's pretty damn boring to say the least. What does matter is the company offers a good QOL, pretty cool places to go, and the compensation and work rules are good comparatively speaking to how much actual physical work you do.
If you want to fly 5 times a day domestically on a 737 the rest of your life, but work for a good company with a very solid contract - by all means work at SWA. But that's not for everyone. I've had a few military peers that have urged me to work there and said they'd help me get the job, but that's not my cup of tea. I wanted the flexibility of either flying 73's domestic or getting to fly 767, 777, or in the future 787's across the pond to Europe, Latin America, and Asia. I decided to pursue CAL and I'm very glad I did. I think CAL is a solid company with the best customer service out there (IMHO hands down 10 fold better than DAL or UAL). I think as the merger mania boils down and grinds away the legacies that have posted astronomical 3 digit million dollar losses CAL will come away leaner and meaner than before.
I can tell you your rumors about SWA going international are just that - conjecture and rumor. There are no reports whatsoever about SWA going international and I think it's probably stupid if they did. They have their niche and their good at it.
And yes - CAL has multitudes of hot 20 something flight attendants. I've talked to many of them. And when you fly INTERNATIONAL on CAL you get 7 of them instead of 3 like a 73 at SWA. So, in your rationale maybe CAL is twice a good a company to work at, huh?? And at CAL, we all wear our hat from fall to spring because that's company policy - which has absolutely nothing to do on the success or failure of any airline.

I'm sorry, but I don't care if an FO wants to leave after just a few months working there. If they don't want FOs to leave, then pay them a descent wage and give them health benefits the first 6 months. IMO, the crappy pay more than gives any FO that option to punch their ticket and leave. The only blame that can be placed is on Mgmt and those who voted in Contract '02.
