Aloha pilots flying without pay!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure what I'd call them - maybe not stupid, but something along those lines. I'm not sure they're trying to "save their job" either...a job, in my mind, implies working for compensation of some type. I agree with the post above - they're doing a huge dis-service to the rest of us attempting to restore the profession to something better than we have today.
Nice rah rah for the Hawaii spirit, family, etc., but maybe the family should have better supported their home airline vs. finding the cheapest seat.

Some people here...
P.S. I don't work for free either, but these folks aren't just working: they are delivering necessary cargo to their fellow islanders. Hawaii's population is just over 1 million for the state. There is a fair chance these guys know folks on each island.

Don't get me wrong, if any of the revenue from this cargo goes into the pockets of a greedy bastard airline exec I would wish hell on him, but I doubt that any money is going to go anywhere but thru the BK judge.

I doubt the pilots are doing this to provide a service or simply kidness for the people of Hawaii, they're doing it to save the airline. They don't want to do a 6-7 hour commute to the mainland, specially to fly for some regional. That would be anightmare scenario, and I feel for them, but flying for free is not the right thing, I think its wrong. I'm not asking anybody to agree with me, you can view it however you please, I'll do the same.

They aren't doing any disservice to you so quit trying to outrace them to the victim status. Hint: They already won! They are likely unemployed. You do not serve the Hawaiin cargo market and niether do 95%+ of the pilots here, so there is no harm being inflicted on you or your company. They are simply getting the cargo inter-island that needs delivering. That simple. In case you haven't read up on it, that whole inter-island trucking cargo business is still scratching their heads about the water issue.

I'm not trying to race anyone to a victim status. I'm not one. I'm gainfully, happily employed, and recieve a paycheck each and every two weeks. But since you don't know me or 95%+ of the other pilots who expect to be paid for services rendered, don't assume that a disservice isn't being placed upon me or my company when there are those among us willing to work for free. You're standing on a slippery slope.

Race to the bottom.... now start digging. This is insanity, and those pilots should not be supported for what they are doing. The minute the company refuses to pay is when you park that jet and take a walk.
We loose all ability to negotiate fair pay when management sees SOME pilots will do anything to fly a plane. Mgt has no contractual obligation to EVER pay these pilots.
"yeaaaaahhh, we fixed the "glitch"

are these pilots hoping to get back pay if aloha started flying again?
I'm curious how the pilots, who are throwing stones, feel about GO/mesa pilots?

At least Go and Mesa pilots are receiving compensation for their services. No matter how you slice it, union pilots working for FREE does have an impact on airline pilots outside the state of Hawaii. Do you seriously think that management at every airline isn't taking note of the fact that there are union pilots willing to work for FREE? If you think these desperate actions don't affect those outside of Hawaii, you are kidding yourself.
