Mr Hoss
At least Go and Mesa pilots are receiving compensation for their services. No matter how you slice it, union pilots working for FREE does have an impact on airline pilots outside the state of Hawaii. Do you seriously think that management at every airline isn't taking note of the fact that there are union pilots willing to work for FREE? If you think these desperate actions don't affect those outside of Hawaii, you are kidding yourself.
But, do you REALLY think that 34 pilots without a union are even on the radar scope of ANYONE???
Good luck to the guys still flying at Aloha and those on the market.

It’s not just the dedication to the company, the customers, the job, but pride in oneself with regard to their chosen profession.
Albeit the cost of gas and wear and tear on the car, was there really an expense incurred??? or perhaps an significant investment in personal good will.
Thumbs up and good luck to the Aloha guys and gals as you will all be a important asset to your next employer and co-workers.

It's pretty obvious that many of the people posting have no idea what is going on with Aloha so here is an article to dispel some of the misconceptions.
Aloha cargo workers to get back pay from buyer function NewWindow(height,width,url) {window.open(url,"ShowProdWindow","menubars=0,scro llbars=1,resizable=1,height="+height+",width="+wid th); }
Aloha's pilots union had complained that they have not been paid since the middle of last month and that their medical coverage was cut off at the end of March.
During a bankruptcy hearing Wednesday, GMAC Commercial Finance LLC agreed to pay the pilots after the sale of Aloha Cargo is completed on May 14.
But John Dean, an attorney for the Air Line Pilots Association, said it's not clear whether GMAC will pay medical premiums and other benefits owed to pilots since April 16.
"Everything is somewhat unsettled at the moment," Dean said.
Dean added that the union is in contract negotiations with the cargo division's buyer, Seattle-based Saltchuk Resources Inc.
Saltchuk said it plans to hire 35 to 40 of Aloha's pilots but has not said how much the pilots will be paid or what their work conditions will be, said Dean. Aloha's court-appointed trustee has moved to reject the union contracts of the 300 cargo employees.
Aloha was the state's second-largest carrier before it abruptly shut down its passenger service on March 31 amid bankruptcy proceedings. The closing resulted in the loss of 1,900 jobs.
"Our pilots are flying without pay, without any guarantee when and if they will receive compensation," said Capt. John Riddel of the Aloha Airlines Master Executive Council.

Race to the bottom.... now start digging. This is insanity, and those pilots should not be supported for what they are doing. The minute the company refuses to pay is when you park that jet and take a walk.
We loose all ability to negotiate fair pay when management sees SOME pilots will do anything to fly a plane. Mgt has no contractual obligation to EVER pay these pilots.
"yeaaaaahhh, we fixed the "glitch"

I could say that any pilot group now has to pay to keep their job and you would have guys life professional pilot bashing the pilot group with no idea what is really happening.
I think for now on sources should be provided or the thread should be closed.
People ought to be ashamed of themselves for bashing on the Aloha guys and girls.

Like I said, bring it on... fire away... I'm ready for the "Ya'll are just ignaaarant, that's what ya'll are, ignaaarant." What if I know 80% of what you know and still have my opinion that this proves to other managements that pilots will work for FREE, knowing they will MOST LIKELY get shafted, once again by "unfortunate" circumstances. Don't get me wrong, what has happened to them is terribly unfortunate, it's what the mgmt claims as "due to unfortunate, unforeseen economic reasons"... Ex: AMR/TWA - I know those are two completely different situations, but mgmt used that catch-all phrase to dump unwanted pilots. Same will happen here with the new company if they can't get a decent deal FAST, before they owe them each for 250 hours of flying!!!
I would also like to ad that them thinking the new company actually CARES about them is just plain idiotic!
