The pilots fly where and when they're told to do so, no one has crashed and everyone is still alive. Sounds good to me.

Not really. They did have a fatal, but that was way back in the 80's. Most comparable companies are regionals or out of business. Tim took a 40% paycut because he knew the unions' wouldn't follow. Now management is blaming the union. Ya know, because it's their fault 88 seats are in a 117 seat airplane.

And the ones who have tried to get a career package at a regional have now faced being sold off (ASA, XJET, Eagle), complete loss of flying (ACA, Air Whiskey)bankruptcy, or potential bankruptcy (ACA, XJET, et al), and other hazards to their career prospects. All of which becomes a disincentive for others to try to dramaticaly improve their contracts.

Fly less per day and you are not as productive as someone who flies more.
