The same could be said for the US in El Salvador or Iraq. Heck, then this is "similar" to almost all invasions. If such simplistic generalities are what you're saying then, congratulations Mr. Obvious! Like I said, you're out of context and really reaching. The intricacies between Russia, Georgia and South Ossetia are nothing like Iraq and Kuwait. Try again.

So the US invaded Iraq to grab their oil, land and resources? I do not believe that to be the case; apparantly you do.
The US invaded Panama and Grenada, not El Salvador. Therefore I really don't think you have any place lecturing others on their understanding of current events.

Back to your main misunderstandings; A. The US trained and supported Contras that indeed attacked Sandinista positions.......ultimately protecting US corporate interests in Central America......in other words, "resources" ala United Fruit, Chevron etc. etc. Through our support of an illegal regime, did we try to restructure their government? Yes. Would that be more of an invasion than Grenada or Panama? Yes. B. The US support of the Contras is not a "current event". That was back in the 70's and 80's. This also illustrates your superficial view on history. Oh yeah, I see that you have an real "understanding". Again, stop regurgitating and start thinking for yourself.
P.S. Frankly, debating geo politics with you is like debating global navigation with a member of the Flat Earth Society.....no basic starting point of mutual understanding. This has really strayed off topic so I'm finished with this thread. Go on believing whatever makes you happy.

Focus people Focus. The original question was what sort of impact would the Russian invasion of Georgia have on the airlines. We seemed to have drifted into a Political/Historical/Rhetoric filled thread.
I believe the impact of the invasion will be less dramatic than when the US invaded/liberated Iraq.
I think the impact will be largely felt in the Region concerned.

"The aggressor has been punished and has incurred very significant losses. Its armed forces are disorganized."
"Russian troops already in the breakaway province on peacekeeping duty should remain, but that Georgian troops who were part of that force should not return."
Classic Russian B.S. So it goes.
