Ya know, I posted this thread about Skybus starting up again and if there was any truth to it. If I wanted to hear about pilots from SWA I would have asked. Please post elsewhere

Skybus was a big risk the first time. Add to that the management infighting on when to IPO, i.e. a year early to raise $$$. All covered by CE750 in many previous posts.

I can't imagine how you'd convince somebody to invest when it got so screwed up the first time regardless of who done it!!

Part of how you convince someone to invest is to explain that the basic business model is sound, but the management just screwed it up. What Mr. Weikle is trying to put together is a new airline with totally different management but a similar more refined business model. It's a proven model( Ryanair/ EasyJet) it just was horribly implemented. If I were a guessing man I'd say he has better than 50/50 odds of pulling it off.

Mr. Mulcher I have nothing nice to say, so I won't.

First let me say Happy Birthday to VA. I hope you have many more.
Second - Good Luck to Skybus, guys with that kind of spirit and attitude help make this country great. History is full of companies who didn't succeed the first or second time around only to become great companies. When I retire next year I'd like to apply to Skybus, maybe to help build something.
Mulcher-dude- how did you ever get hired by SWA? I'd like to suggest you read the book "Nuts". Good book about your company but you probably won't because you don't sound like you care about history. When SWA started 30 yrs everyone, pilots, ground crews, etc, busted their buns to turn aircraft in 15 mins. Pilots worked for low pay, help load bags, and flew alot. I'm curious, if SWA fell on hard times and cut wages would you quit?

Best of Luck to everyone.

Very easy I had what they were looking for. Last winter in MDW My fellow pilot and I slung bags together due to our ramper issues. I would do it again to help out. See just because I have issues with those that accept low pay. I am willing to bust my butt and help whenever I can. I help the FA's all the time. Especially now with the new rules they have in place. Not because I have to, but I want to.

Some are so judgemental and assume they know someone from a message board. Its kind of funny really. You cant judge an individual from APC. I will addmit I dont have all the facts of each individuals situation. The simple fact is if pilots didt sell themselves short and accept low wage startups. There wouldnt be low wage startups. I feel for those they have faced that decision.

By the way I have read nuts and hard landings, thanks for the insightful suggestion. Heck SWA gives newhires copies. I live for tomorrow not yesterday. While we can learn from history. You also have to make your own history.

Having issues with those accepting low pay, but you're slinging bags for free? What hypocricy. Isn't slinging bags for free worse than the B6 guys crossing seatbealts in the cabin? Probably won't throw out a back crossing seat belts.

What!!!....You threw bags and cleaned the cabin for $0. Talk about lowering the bar! Many union members (of which you are so fond) would say that you are stealing their job for doing something like that. You would be lucky to not find yourself face down on the ramp if you did that across town in ORD to United's rampers.

They were very short handed. Due to alot of sicks because it was so cold and many were doing forced doubles. Throwing a couple of bags isnt going to kill anyone and it was very much appreciated. Ill even carry a stroller up the stairs. Oh the humanity. See thats called working together. Something all you that work at FAILING airlines dont understand. The attitudes of you pre madona pilots is a joke. Maybe thats what got me hired. I have crossed seat belts and picked up trash. Not because I/we have to,but to help out. Plus I like to stay busy. Not look like I am doing that important time consumming pilot stuff. Again very much appreciated. Plus I have gone to get FA's food. Oh no why would a pilot help a FA? See what kind of lazy self centered individuals you are. What a joke. "You would be lucky to not find yourself face down on the ramp if you did that across town in ORD to United's rampers." I wouldnt expect anything else from aUnited employee

Not to mention the paying passengers. You know the people that pay the bills. They noticed what was going on. You have a duty to those people. Plus we wanted to get going. It was cold but we help. It was a handful of bags, bug it was very appreciated. Do I go down so SWA can do it with less people absolutely not. If they said can you go back up. I would have in a heart beat. But they said thanks for the help. You would have sat in your cozy little airplane sipping a Latte, probably laughing about how cold is was. Pretty sad if you ask me. The point of low manning was proven long before we helped the rampers. So that wasnt the issue anymore. Employee groups need to work hard together and get along. Then play hard.
