Read the award. It is based off a ratio. Since NWA did not hire more than 150 guys post 9/11 and DAL hired nearly 750 it meant the bottom NWA guys would be closer to new-hires. It preserved everyone's respective seniority. That is the best we could have hoped for. No one group got a windfall. If DAL cancels the 787 award, the replacement aircraft is staffed for five years by NWA guys, even if it means its a 777 which DAL flies. No one group profited, no one group was the proverbial sacrificial lamb. No one group is elated, everyone pretty much sees the fairness. All in all its a decent list.

I agree. I know it will be tough for some guys to swallow, but with a pilot group of 12,000+ you are going to get that. I for one, am glad it's DONE. Let's move on. United we stand.

Just for info, I was 38.335% up from the bottom at the Delta list and moved up to 38.625% on the combined list. I did not get the big pay raise NW did but and we were able to fence our 777 from NW pilots for 5 years.

For now I did ok and as a whole I think the Delta pilots were treated well. The NW pilots did not all get put at the bottom because the Delta pilots hired after 14 apr 08 on the bottom of the list. They did not get their DOH. They got a small amount of pull and plug.

Again, I know everyone won't be happy among the Delta pilots but it came out more in our favor in a major way which compensates the lack of the pay increase.

As it settles in things will emerge but wee will see.

I have to think the lack of fences on the 75/76/A330 is a win for junior NWA guys. If you compare lists, it seems to me(a dal guy), NWA list is very stratified by seniority while more Junior DAL guys have better relative seniority everywhere. As an early 01 hire, I could hold a line at everybase on every equipment except 765 and 777 which I cannnot hold. My same relative postiion at NWA is a DC9FOB.

The misleading guidance DALPA used during voting (no bump not flush) was at best naive but more like a lie. They knew asap after SOC we where going to be shifting airframes all over the place which means massive displacements/rebidding after SOC. With no fences on the equipment, I have to belive a large portion of the DC9 FO's will be migrating to the 75/76.

How am I wrong?

If the 787 orders, say 18 of them, are changed to 777, those 777's are now fenced off from premerger Delta pilots. So the 777 catagory can grow but no Delta can get to the new slots created..

P.S. I think the list is extremely fair but think the fences should not have included any airfames aquired post SOC.

You're not wrong.

Even while we all ponder our shiny brand new seniority numbers, the fact is that we are all in the same seats today that we were in yesterday. As you hint at, the real fun begins in the upcoming months and years as the new Delta closes categories and/or moves them around from New York to MSP or MEM to ATL. The meaning of those new numbers will also sink in after that first AE as people look around to see what their seniority will hold. As of today, +/- 1% of relative seniority is meaningless. It won't really become tangible until those first seat bids or displacements.

Your not. That is exactly what will be happening. I'm hoping they take closer to the 18 month mark to get the SOC, but I kinda think we'll see it sooner rather than later. By the time we get an SOC, there may be alot less DC-9's so that might help, but the junior Delta guys on the ER and 75/6 are most likely not going to see themselves moving up very quickly on that equipment.

I could not agree more! In the end, pilots flying 757/767 will be displaced to DC-9/ MD 88. I would happely fly the MD88, but I avoided getting hired at Northwest because of the DC-9 and 747-200.

seeing as though I'm junior at Delta, I would have liked to see some protection from the shriking DC-9 fleet at NW. Can anyone elaborate?

I am listening to the Investors webcast right now and they clearly said in regards to the DC9s "Yesterdays trash is todays treasure". The context was in regards to high fuel and now low fuel. They said the DC9s are going to be a great tool that can be used.
