Can someone tell me if I am reading wrong about "replacements" and fences.

I read what you wrote incorrectly. Sorry. I thought you meant a lack of retirement not retiring pilots. You chose an airline you can move up quickly in and I chose to avoid specific airplanes. Do you keep you relative position in the company with people still retiring above you? because I may not be able to avoid the DC-9/747-200.

I do but i DONT get to move up 55% in the company in the next 10-13 years. I am ok with that, i was just pointing out that its not all peaches and cream for NWA pilots. You portray that the DAL side got a shorter stick so to speak and i disagree. Both sides "lost" on some issues and "gained" on others.

Time to move on and look at what we have to look forward to as a Unified pilot group.

You arent wrong from what i can tell. Replacement aircraft go to the specific side and if its a fenced aircraft then they are blocked off. interesting times are ahead for sure.

Either way it sounds a lot better than the US Air fiasco or what the old NW guys did to the old Republic back in 86.

I am a pilot, and have to complain. When it comes to the next contract, sitting in the cockpit, or hanging out on the layovers we are all one group now.

This award is exactly like the usair award, down to the 5 year fences. The difference is that you don't have a group of thugs (usair east) destroying everything they touch.

Old NW did to Republic? You need to look at the real history of who did what to who before you say that.

You probably will not have to worry about this. I can tell you that there is NOT 1 S/O that is on the A/C now that does not want to be. Everyone on the panel has chosen it (they could have bid off if they wanted to)...now maybe in a yr or two people will want off...but they probably will not be around that long.

FWIW...I love it...could have been closer to home but chose to stay on the panel...Its probably the best flying I have done to this point in my career.

I'm sure the NWA guys are getting a whole bunch of 'understanding'.

Yes, and in the middle of the list, there are NWA Jan 1995 hires paired with Delta October 1991 hires...so what is your point. It is not all about date of hire, as the arbitrators have agreed. So how did your percentage relative seniority move? I bet you are within 1%.

Let's move on, guys. Beers all around.

You got it. Only NWA guys can be furoulghed as a result of DC-9's going away until 1 bid after SOC.
