I would say JetBlue has to be high on the list. One reason why we are going to have a union very soon.

The pay at all of them is bad. In 1980 a 747 captain made about 155,000 per year. if you were to math that out into today's dollars it would be about 500,000. In spending power legacy pay has gone so far backwards that charts wouldn't be able to graph it. Find a successful orthapedic surgeon and that is what you are supposed to be making, only you're not.

Don't forget the termination of retirement plans, cut back on medical benefits, and longer working rosters too. Add those to the cut backs... espcially wtihout any repayment of salary concessions that have been agreed upon.

You're dreaming. The big difference is that surgeons are few and far between and their services are in huge demand. What pilots do is not that hard to come by. And by that I mean there is an endless supply of qualified pilots. I would have signed a lifetime contract for 100k/year when I came out of the USAF a few years ago. 500K per year! I wish. We do have some captains making close to 400k and many well over 300k. But then again the pax business hasn't made money consistently in a long time.

Nothing like selling yourself and your profession short.

I guess that's the reason and attitude that got us where we are today.

Happy new year.
