More sad Midwest news...

Don't worry, I'd rather take a train then ride on Rebublic !
As pilots we all need to grow some b_lls and just say no ! This profession was made great by pilots telling managemant to stick it where the sun doesn't shine. We are all in this position by not standing up against the machine. Alpa has no balls and it flows down hill. The last few Midwest guys on the property should walk..........Republic guys should refuse all Midwest flights. (Sick time). Something would change..........Or at least it would get some press time. This profession will continue to go South if we let it.

EVERY RAH pilot flying in MKE is still scum. Plain and simple, imo. Call me immature if you want, but you stole my livelihood in cahoots with our crappy management. Tell me what is different between them and other management tricks like GoJets (another teamsters f' job), Freedom, New York Air, etc. etc?

Many years ago, Bedford came to the Chautauqua Pilot group to fly the Comair struck work. They could not be forced to fly struck work and it went for a vote.
It failed miserably.

Calling RAH pilots scum or scabs for doing outsourced flying is ridiculous. Nobody wants to steal jobs but the truth is Midwest pilots didnt go on strike, there were no lines to cross and RAH simply did what regional do by trade, put smaller planes on smaller routes to make a company more profitable. IF those routes and that airline were to have a strike by the Midwest pilots, RAH union and pilots might take another look at doing the flying, but to date the Midwest union and pilots have been too weak to do anything more than whine about it.
You do your part first, then and only then can you b**** about somebody else not doing theirs.

Instead of blaming one another we need to put more effort in drafting stronger language in our CBA's and get the unions working on congress to reverse the favortism of the NMB.

I guess it bears repeating:
THERE WAS NO STRIKE AT MIDWEST
If any of the (understandably) angry MidEx pilots would like to claim that the RAH group are scabs, line crossers, or anything of the sort, the example you cited shows what could be expected from the RAH group if they'd had any legal means to refuse the flying.
MidEx pilots had no legal basis to strike. They would have lost their jobs.
RAH pilots had no legal basis to refuse the work. They would have lost their jobs.
How is this the result of anything other than management taking every legal advantage they could find to ignore the pilot groups? The fact that we can do no better than point the finger at other pilots in reaction to such management practices is a shining example of how utterly fragmented and impotent we are as a labor group. Frankly, we're getting exactly what we're capable of negotiating for. Nothing.

The 50 seat RJ is a financial submarine with oil over $50 per barrel. The only way regionals can do it cheaper is to get bigger aircraft (100+ seats).
If this happens management will constantly move flying to the cheapest regional and pilots will have to chase after jobs. The legacy carriers will be cut in half and the good flying jobs will be gone.

Just to clarify:
Midwest had no scope. None. Their contract only thought of Skyway, which was never going to infringe on what Midwest did, being wholly owned. Fast forward to today, yeah, they should have had scope. No fault there, who would have guessed.
Midwest will go nowhere. Their weak point has always been Timmy. The biggest tell that this whole purchase was going nowhere was leaving that idiot in charge.
Going forward: Point fingers, call names, etc, if it makes you feel good. Bottom line: Large RJ's are replacing mainline aircraft.

Midwest had scope language approved by ALPA. The problem is ALPA is a very weak union and will lead the airline pilot industry to the bottom of the economic ladder. Look how far the profession has dropped in the last 20 yrs!
All Airline Pilots need to push for legacy carriers to own the large RJ flying.
