Default Jet Blue - not ready for TO?

Was about # 25 in line for T.O. this afternoon in JFK. Jet Blue Airbus is number 1 for T.O. and cleared into position and hold when the pilot announces that they need 4 minutes before they can takeoff? About 10 departures later another JB Airbus says they need 45 seconds before they can takeoff?

Just wondering if this is an Airbus issue or something to do with JB procedures? Today on my flight JB cost everyone else about 5 minutes of gas. This could be huge if this happens on a regular basis as the heavies are really burning Dinosaurs sitting at idle.

Just wondering.....

I think some engines used on the 320s require a few minutes to warm up after a start. I've been away from the bus to long to remember but I think I had to do that one day in DTW at Spirit.

ATC just let them sit there for the 4 minutes with other traffic waiting to go? Was there no other place to move them?

Most likely bad planning on their part...? Maybe Apu shut down on single engine. The they need to start the APU and then start the engine? Maybe...

5 minutes. Taxi time included! And usually it takes more than that!

They offered and ATC told them to just stay in position. So yes, everyone had to wait, seems like poor planning.

Some kind of job action? Company making money now and somebody wants a raise?

That's fine, but does holding up the line due to lack of professional level planning really make the arguement that you're worth more W-2?

I don't think sooooo!!!

How long does NW, co and USA take to get their #'s....

not so often in jfk simply because the taxi is so long, but in some other airports it seems as if they are waiting for fedex to deliver the WB.

"Maybe" some passenger had to crap their pants in the back?

At NW we usually have our #'s before we even push. Occasionally we have to wait until taxi before they come up. It maybe was a W&B issue. I had a light A319 once that required moving 6 pax from the back up to an empty 1st class. Rare, but it does happen.
