Yeah, I know it's terrible when peace broke out and Germany reunified (3Oct90), thereby making the IGS an illegal cabotage operation...
Delta didn't have a FRA crew base. Establishing one would have raised a whole bunch of issues (and contractual expenses for moving, etc.). In any case, FRA is gone now. I guess you expect that Delta will establish a NRT base, as the inefficiencies are the same there. Funny, though, I don't believe NWA had a NRT crew base...

Would not expect DL to establish a base...it would cost to much, however the smaller aircraft are there to protect the slots, with the ability to upgrade...lose NRT, you lose Japan and Asia. RA called it one of the Jewels...maybe he meant a CZ. The bean counters are coming!

newKnown has it! I think we need whales doing a round robin msp-nrt-hnl-msp.
The dh won't be eliminated all together as there is too much 57 flying out of NRT. But DAL will still try and get rid of as much dh as possible.

While I've not done any flying out there, and don't have any firsthand knowledge of the operation, I don't see why DH could not be eliminated through a combination of more flights from the US to NRT, and longer trips once the crew is over there.
