What is to stop majors flying the 190 to match the rates of Republic 190s?

I may be wrong here, but as far as I can remember CHQ gets to call the OOOI times; no ACARS. So, they can manipulate the on time, no?

Until commuter guys realize that every time they take over a route, there are that many fewer airline jobs out there, this industry is screwed. The RJs are taking over and their contracts can be played against each other, whipsawing each other to the bottom. Why do you think Republic and Colgan are growing so fast? Reduced pay rates. In ten years when you finally get your rates to an acceptable level there will be a new colgan out there with a bunch of newbies willing to uncercut you.

This industry is going down fast. I wish pilots had some pride.

Uh, negatory, my friend. Out of all the planes I was on the month of April, I would say roughly 5% did not have ACARS.....that's a complete guess. But I kid you not, rarely did one NOT have ACARS. No more fudging the times and earning an extra 2 hrs or more on a 4-day trip!! <Damn it, they found us out>

So, basically, our on-time departures/arrivals and our departure/arrival delays are damn-near written in stone for us now!

This industry is horrible! Period! And the airline pilot career is crap! I'm so glad that I got furloughed, removed my blindfold and got to see the circus from the outside in. What a F...ing mess! It's all a mess. When I thought it couldn't get any worse this happens. I'm so, so glad that I only wasted 3 years of my life in this piece of crap industry. You can point the finger left, right, up and down but we are the only ones to blame.

This problem is way beyond the capabilities of pilots, unions, and anyone reading this board. The only way to really stop this is for the government to step in and put an end to code sharing. Not long ago I would have said this was a pipe dream, but in light of Colgan 3407 I would say the political mood may be right for once. Maybe instead of spending time writing on this board you all should be writing your representatives. If you sell the ticket you operate the flight it's as simple as that.

I don't think Colgan has anything to do with this argument. Scope is key.
