The problem with thomas39's statement is that he claimed NWA had the best scope in the industry and I pointed out that CAL's was actually better then theirs. That's when things hit a slippery slope.

My point exactly. For years I was called a SCAB just for working at CAL. I was told it was because we had the worst major airline Pilot contract out there, (which previously was absolutely true). I busted my ass to change that from the second I got hired and still the insults continued. Should NWA Pilots receive the same name-calling I did? Absolutely not but, you guys are in the unenviable position I found myself many years ago.

When I was still flying I ALWAYS had my master scab list with me and readily available. If they were in "the book" I would simply advise the person that they were not welcome on the jump seat. I would always give them the opportunity to explain to me that they were not the person I found in the book, however. After all, mistakes can be made, but I needed to be convinced.

I remember one time on a 777 from EWR-DEN the gate agent told me that I had 4 CAL pilots seeking the jumpseats. As they were all standing together I went over to them and said that if their names were on the scab list which I had, the seat was not available. I was courteous to them and I did this in a manner that did not bring any attention from the waiting passengers.

On the other hand, a CAL pilot not in "the book" was ALWAYS welcome to the jumpseat, and if available a first class or business seat.

That's funny. I hear that on a daily basis from the fine folks I work with who just so happen to be '83-85 hires. Guess what I tell them?

If it weren't for you morons, (see scabs), The CAL Pilots would have been paid properly for years.

If this label applies to you Mr. P then shame on you. I've Never Scabbed, Never Will. Its a character flaw that can't be fixed and is remembered for a lifetime.

Please do not attempt to bring facts into this debate.
The ALPO fanatics have their Koran of a scab list. It serves all their purposes.
Do not discuss factually and historically why that list is a joke when closely examined who is and more importantly who is NOT on it.
Do not discuss the fact that they promised when they negotiated jump seat privileges with the OWNERS of the airplanes, to never use the privilege for union purposes, and can be severely disciplined for so doing
The simple fact is ALPO just needs someone to focus hate upon and blame all their worldly ills on. Their "Scab List" becomes their nipple pacifier.

Please Ad hominen attacks make not a valid argument, they are the sign of a weak and intellectually bankrupt mind. Who gets to decide what "paid properly" is. And from from where exactly would the money to pay the CAL pilots, not to mention the entire payroll, come. Certainly not ALPA for they are incapable of producing anything. Lorenzo may have fleeced the company, but he did not take enough to make payroll under the old CAL contract of the pre TI merger. Besides no one held a gun to the head of those who chose to work or those who chose not to. Frank offered to pay what he did and there were no shortage of takers. Like it or not, that is capitalism, the most moral social system ever devised by man. Where the economic value of a person's work is determined by a single principle: by the voluntary consent of those who chose to trade their work or products in return.
