NO Virgin go until 2007
Virgin America may not take off till 2007
All bizjournals.com News
Virgin America Inc. might not begin flying until 2007 because of delays in the federal approval process, the startup airline's chief executive said Wednesday.
CEO Fred Reid said that rival airlines such as Continental Airlines Inc. have submitted numerous objections to the U.S. Department of Transportation about Virgin America's application for flight certification. Those objections have bogged down the review process, he said

My opinion...Most low cost carriers that will compete against the 737 or 717 with an A320 are doomed to fail in the long run...The immediate costs are low, but the direct operating costs over the long term are higher for the bus. Air Tran showed it to Jet Blue and caused Jet Blue to bail from the ATL market...Frontier is starting to see it too. Why is Ryan kick'n butt over in Europe?...Maybe because they fly 737-800's? I think Virgin America will get off the ground, but will see red if they fly against the Boeing low cost carriers...And for the payscale...Branson has always been known to have the LOWEST in the industry.

How did Airtran show Jetblue that a boeing is better than an airbus? Because JB pulled out of a flight to ATL that is swamped with RJ's and mainline Delta as well as Airtans, (yes, I said Airtrans) hub. How is it that Frontier is seeing that it was a big mistake to dump the boeings and go with the Airbus?
It seems that Airbus 320 vs Boeing 737 has been going on forever. I have had the pleasure of flying both (737 for 500 hours and 319 for 1500 hours). I will take the Airbus any day of the week. I think it is a very reliable airplane. It has its computer glitches just as does the 737 NGs. To each his own, I guess.

HvyDrvr, if you like Boeing so much, how come you don't fly one?
(Does your airline have any?)
PS---I think A320 vs B-737 is not over; jury is still out. And DL dumping capacity with low fares chased JetBlue out of ATL. AirTran only had 2-3 flights per day in those transcon markets.

Ironically, there hasn't been tons of information in our local media about Virgin America coming into SFO.
Just wondering what kind of advertising Spirit has been doing out there. Was just there last week. (4 th day of service)?
ATC seemed surprised, yet happy to have us there.

I haven't heard too much about Spirit, nor have I heard much about Virgin as well. Seems that all I hear on the news this week is how flying is going to be a nightmare this summer. Hopefully that won't be the case. How many Spirit flights are due to come in here?
