All Wallach is doing is pounding his chest and making it sound as bad as he can.....then if something good happens...he will be there making it look like he is the person that got us out of it....he is a pure joke. Get rid of him.

Might want to look at setting up another forum in a place like pprune.org?

I am an IT guy while furloughed. It is very likely that a virus can bring down a server and/or host itself within the server so the packet is transferred when someone connects.

A properly secured server with anti-virus software installed should do a good job of protecting itself, however code is sometimes written to work around these securities and thus goes undetected.

Politics aside, this may really be the reason it is down, however, given how airlines and MEC's can be, I wouldn't be surprised if it is just used as an excuse.

Does the MEC own their own server and host their site? or is the hosting contracted out? There should be regular backups of the content available to reload if the content is lost or damaged. The company that I work for has only had this happen once, where a virus damaged our database and site. It was down for about 1 hour while we brought a backup online. In about 12 hours we had the original working and online again.

What is the name of the virus your computer is infected with. Perhaps we could actually see if what you wrote is TRUE or perhaps you are towing the Wallach company line in trying to say it is "virus". Please forgive me and the rest of the pilots that have more than a single cell working in our heads if we are skeptical of what is published by ALPA. UA ALPA was once a bastion of great leaders and people interested in making the job better and the future secure. Instead it is run by a group of mongers that are out for themselves, are self absorbed egomaniacs that couldn't negotiate with a lemonade stand operator without giving up something crucial. Our guys would get a cup of ice and promise of lemonade at a later date. Except they would give themselves some nice fat reward for finding the stand in the first place.

This virus thing is sham. Wallach is sham and the entire ALPA "is here to help you" mantra is a sham. Some very bad things are on the horizon for us without some vector changes from both ALPA and the company. Failure to adjust our leadership is akin to the company failing the adjust their leadership. With today's announcement that Tauge is taking the lead it appears Tilton is giving reign to a another leader. Now the question becomes, when does ALPA get rid of Wallach? He has proven to be a force of incompetence and has managed ALPA as poorly as Tilton has managed the company.

It there is a request for the UA pilots to wake up, it needs to include a recall of Wallach and putting in place an MEC Chairman that is set to see the pilot group prosper and not stoke just his ego as Wallach has done.

Dang, Neil, it didn't take very long for you and the other concessionists to bring the campaign over here. The hamster didn't have the votes last time and he doesn't have them now, give it up before your management proclivities are exposed.
