Are they reinforced as much as the runways?
Yes, to a point. I do not think that anything larger than a 767 can land on them.

We did this in ATL for quite some time as they tore up and replaced 27L.

You know that if it was a regional that did this you guys would be all over it, saying it's gotta be due to experience, this is another example of regionals being unsafe. And everybody would be second guessing the pilots. But instead for the most part we have people saying, delta pilots are the best in the world so therefore they probably weren't in the wrong. I'm sorry, but if you land on a taxiway 999 times outta 1000 someone f'd up. They definitely got some splianin' to do, and I hope this was that 1 in a thousand time. If there was a fully loaded 777 on that taxiway, I'd take the ravine over the taxiway anyday.

Are you saying they landed on the taxiway intentionally?

Like I said, when the facts come out about this, it will explain a few things. Just wait. Are they at fault? Not my place to decide.

Wow I'd love to have seen that! So it was on that taxiway in between 27R/L then?

Don't know what happened but I really think if it was anyone but Delta this site would be all over the crew.

Quoting IrishTiger "Delta pilots are the best in the world" I'd say Cal and Delta are tied since they can both land succesfully on taxiways. I've heard that American and United pilots are pretty good; I bet they could probably get a 777 on a taxiway.
