Delta pay/bennies

I still think NYC 88 will always be the junior spot. Nobody lives there, the commute is horrible, crashpads are expensive, and you have to cover three airports. After that DTW DC-9 then MSP 88. I think MEM DC-9 will go senior to the MSP 88 because it is a small category and some locals will hang onto it. The MSP DC-9 will disappear as we get the new 90's out there. That being said, the last go around we had guys going straight to the ER and some guys going to LAX and SLC out of class. With potential widebody positions on this next AE, guys in class could have alot of choices in the narrowbody fleets in most bases except SEA, LAX, and SLC due to the North guys heading west now that they can.

Insurance for couple: $76. every two weeks
Dental: $10.50
Insurance for family: $105, every two weeks (I think)
There are a whole host of choices. The prices above are for the "Gold" plan with a $1,000 Company funded Health Reimbursement Account which can be used to satisfy your deductible or 20% co-pay, $2,500 max out of pocket.
We also have compensation in the form of "Shared Rewards" for attaining performance goals (used to be a nice $100 a month) and excellent Profit Sharing (which we hope to enjoy this year).

I'm not as bullish as some on Delta's career trajectory. Look at historical DOT Form 41 data and see how much capacity NWA and Delta have consistently pulled down over the years. It is a remarkable declining trend. That will have to be turned around. For that to be turned around we have to have a consistently profitable Company.
Also consider, you are not coming to work for Delta. You're coming to work for NWA, as their equipment and bases will be where many new hires end up. I could not and would not have made that choice. Now that I'm here, I am waiting to see if I can survive displacement. If it becomes a commute then this job is not worth it for me (and my family). Something to consider.
Flight Operations Management and Training are fine folks who are very pleasant to work for. Delta is a great Company, but it does not have a clear direction on narrow body domestic flying (which it has 60% outsourced). As a junior pilot you'll get whipped around by scope agreements for the next decade.
So, if you applied to NWA, you'll really love Delta. If you applied to Delta, you might want to carefully consider what you're signing on for.

Man, that was one of the most arrogant posts I've read from you in a while! I am not going to start the NWA vs Delta fight all over again but not everyone wants to be in ATL... just saying...

Howgozit,
No disrespect intended. It is what it is. I assume the original poster is putting together his "job comparison spreadsheet" that all of us did before we applied. If so, the destination has changed and for better or worse, they need to re crunch their numbers. So you aren't bidding the Boeing in Atlanta on this AE?

DC plan is basically a 401k contribution (not match, it happens regardless of whether you put in your own money or not.)
You direct contributions and the money is in your account which, as of now, could not be taken in bankruptcy because it's yours. Never say never

If you are on furlough, I believe you should be able to get into DELTANET and see categories; however, 05/01 won't buy you much at all. I believe the most junior captain at DAL south is 99 NYC M88. You might be able to hold a line as an FO in the 73, but that's about it. Remember between you and the most junior guy there's only about 1,100 pilots out 12,000. Let's crank up that hiring.
