I would second Justdoingmyjob regarding bidding reserve. If you possibly can consider moving to your base, bid reserve and relax.
Delta's reserve is not perfect, but it is by far better my other 3 slave driver employers. I am at 50% in my cat. and bid reserve. On average I've flown 32 hours a month for the past 3 years. Finishing the MBA, started a business last spring and just about to start making money with it :) :) :) Welcome to Delta, make it better and enjoy it. Life is short! |
Lifeisgood is spot on. If you live in base, reserve is no big deal, if you don't, it can suck big time..... I have been on reserve since the first of the year (displaced when we parked the whales) and have only flown about 250 hrs, so not much flying on the DC9. You will also have to live on 70 hrs pay as you will almost never break guarantee. YMMV Good Luck and welcome aboard.:)

Nope, I'm a commuter. As far as the "inequities" of the reserve system to a line holder, yes, it can suck. However, I hear line holders complain that they can't do "Rolling Thunder" either. If we want to change it, complaining on a webboard ain't gonna cut it. Have you made your wishes known to your council reps?
I don't think too many line holders are complaining about NOT getting "rolling thunder" either. A fixed schedule with the occasional GS will help line holders out just fine. Here's hopin the hiring continues. Better times for all of us...:D |

Has anyone from the last week of July interviews heard anything yet?
It's been 5 weeks and our group has yet to receive a CTT letter or class date. I think they're waiting on how many Furloughed Recalls are coming back to determine if there is room for us this year or if we will be in next years class. |

It seems the interview department got ahead of the training department. Lots happening. Big AE coming out, etc. Simulators are the bottleneck I think. |
That is what we are all being tested in - Patience!
BB told us that we would be in a good position for bidding since the AE would be out by the time we show up on your doorstep. Truly - just trying to plan a little for the future. Doesn't really matter, just excited to get the number and join the Delta ranks. Let's see number 12,600 or so? |

This really shouldn't be a problem. Starting pay is $54 an hour. |

Well, if any of the new hires fly with me, I'll buy, so they will at least get a burger and beer for dinner & coffee and donuts for breakfast. That way they can handle the beatings better.......
