That's a tough position for an airline to be in...obviously the guy looks clean on paper per the Feds or he couldn't have worked at Indy. I wonder if they found something specific in his background, or just ruled him out based on being muslim?

Default Black Balled!

Well, jetBlue has a reputation of black balling people. Perhaps someone he worked with at Independence who now works for jetBlue heard through the grapevine that he got hired then went to the people department and said he had a problem with this person working at jetBlue too.

OR there IS something sinister in his background.

OR, as I've heard before, after many, many months of waiting just to get phase 2, they decide 'no' to phase 1.

OR, maybe the applicant is not being truthful. What airline ever discloses the reason they don't hire someone? Hummmm......

Without a doubt, there is probably more to the story than the press is letting out. Chances are the guy didn't get hired for whatever reason, and now he is pulling out the ethnicity card.

That's real mature. So by the same standards, any person that's not white, christian right, republican and born in the US shouldn't have the right to an airline job? Last time I checked, there was a big difference between Muslim and fundamental islamist. Regardless of where you are born.

As for not being born in the US, there are plenty of people that hold prominent positions in American society... should we hold them under suspicion as well just because they are "naturalized" citizens? (Here are a few prominent naturalized citizens: Arnold Schwartzenegger, Madeleine Albright, Isaac Asimov, Pierce Brosnan, Alexander Graham Bell, Dave Matthews, Henry Kissinger, the list goes on)

Although I have never flown with him, I know Faisal personally (we were coworkers at ACA/Independence)- he was a friendly person as well as a hard worker. I have also talked to those who have flown with him and they say he is a capable pilot. I don't see him as being one to pull the "race" card, unless it's justified.

Either way, I'm going to reserve judgement on either party (him or JetBlue) until I know more, than a two paragraph AP article...

Sorry my friend...your; "white, christian right, republican and born in the US" pilots didn't run 2 airliners into the twin towers and one into the pentagon and one into PA....They started the war, I've served 2 tours fighting the enemy in Iraq...what have you done? Too bad this gent was deemed a security risk. We are a nation at war. I repeat, we are a nation at war. Blue did the prudent thing and refused employment. Perhaps this gent can get a job at Iran Air or Syrian air or Saudia.

Reddog... don't pull the veteran card on me... that's making a pretty lame assumption. FWIW, I served honorably for 9 years including an active duty overseas tour myself.

There is no reason why an FAA CERTIFIED PILOT, who is a UNITED STATES CITIZEN, regardless of religion should be denied a position unless there are valid reasons that can be CONFIRMED. Just because he's muslim doesn't make him a terrorist.

As far as who flew the two jets into the twin towers, none of the folks on board were citizens or legitimate pilots. There's definately a difference there.

Stereotypes of any sort don't help any cause. I don't call you a war-monger just because you support the war or were in the military...
