We know.

We all get it.

Let it sink and be gone.

Don't stir it.

Default Breaking News

Well there's always two sides to a story, but this is interesting and, if true, disturbing...

This update is a quick synopsis of disturbing events that occurred yesterday, 2/4/14, in the ATL Pilot Lounge that caused the DPA GO TEAM to be ejected from the lounge by Flight Operations managers. The GO TEAM push in ATL has been cancelled as a result and we are relying on you to finish the work we started.

Building on the previous day's event where a Flight Ops manager forcibly picked up a DPA GO TEAM member's roller bag without permission and turned it around so as to conceal an approved DPA sticker from view, yesterday's interactions with Flight Ops escalated to an even higher level of intimidation and harassment in the workplace by Flight Ops managers. The day culminated in Flight Ops ejecting our team for displaying a DPA Bag Tag, declaring it was a "sign" promoting our event. DPA Bag Tags have been and continue to be approved for use by DPA members, evidently just not by the GO TEAM at GO TEAM efforts.

The GO TEAM was presented with a memorandum from Captain [name redacted] that was confusing and unclear and not founded in any published Delta Flight Operations Advocacy or Solicitation Policy. DPA Interim President Tim Caplinger was required to sign the memorandum. A transcript from the meeting reveals one particularly threatening moment when the manager said, "Either you're gonna sign that for me and leave it with me and leave the lounge or your not gonna sign it for me and leave the lounge."

The DPA GO TEAM acted with courtesy and respect despite repeated attempts to intimidate us and we maintained our professional bearing through even the worst moments. So as to avoid insubordination discipline and further complicating the matter, the DPA GO TEAM immediately left the lounge and have cancelled the rest of this week's efforts.

Friends, your freedom and right to choose who represents you has been interfered with and these actions are unacceptable. DPA did not violate any known or published policies and our actions met the highest standard of respect and professionalism. As your DPA leadership, we set the example as many of you witnessed and we will press on persuading fellow pilots to join our cause.

NOTE: Those of you who witnessed the events over the last three days are asked to prepare a statement of what you observed and how you felt about it. Please email us with your statement and include as much detail as you can recall.

All Delta Pilots should ask themselves why a company would so vigorously support an incumbent union. Feel free to let Flight Ops know that you do not appreciate any favoritism for ALPA. We will provide you with further guidance as this situation develops. We appreciate your hard work on all of our behalves to go out this week and round up the remaining cards we were prohibited from gathering for you.

Management and DALPA are making huge mistakes. They are attacking their own pilots.

The result is many more DPA donations and signed cards. They would be much better served restoring the concessions extorted in Chapter 11. If they did that there would be no DPA.

Management taking 40% plus raises and wanting us to accept 3% and a 33% reduction in profit sharing is greedy and short sighted.

Another thing is abundantly clear. Management prefers DALPA. Ask yourself "why is that"?

DPA has little to no credibility. The latest debacle is the "hacking" incident. It went from "ALPA clearly did it!" to "We have the FBI investigating" to "We've filed a lawsuit against John Doe." And let's not forget the Brady vs ALPA lawsuit that was going to BK ALPA. We have to get out now!!! The award will exceed $1 billion and we will all be assessed!!!

Hard to believe anything they say.

DALPA has little to no credibility. The latest debacle is their misinterpretation of the FAR 117 requirement to have an opportunity for 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. And let's not forget C2012. It went from "we hear you loud and clear" to 4-8-3-3.

Hard to believe anything they say.

Ah, but that misinterpretation has been corrected. And you've read the survey results? You know what everyone was asking for then?

Where? I haven't seen any correction. Last I saw, they were sticking to their story about exactly 8 hours behind the door satisfying the FAR 117 requirement for an 8 hour uninterrupted sleep opportunity.

I know it was a heck of a lot more than 4-8-3-3. Are you saying it wasn't?

Johns29... I hope your not telling me that the contract survey's are viewable? That's why I signed a card to begin with because Alpa wouldn't publish the survey results. The trust us we heard you what you want was a complete bunch of garbage. That's right we wanted 3 percent raises and more large RJ'S and to give the company back 33% of our profit sharing. Common man! When people who work within ALPA say this stuff it makes me angry. No wonder management kicks our but at the negotiation table.

Perhaps Alpa's new slogan should be "getting the best from non paid volunteers". I want people who do negotiate and who do work to be PAID. We bring enough money in dues to pay people handsomely as they should be instead of it going to national. You think management asks schedules to volunteer their time to negotiate the pilots contract.
