Per Friday 9/17/10 from CAL MEC Chair.....They should all have their letter's in hand by this week, if not already:
A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN
I am pleased to start this week by letting you all know that recall letters have been sent to our furloughed pilots. We have been told that they should expect to enter training during the fourth quarter of this year and that the goal is to get all who return back in the cockpit by summer 2011. Our Membership and Furlough Assistance volunteers will coordinate with Flight Operations to help ensure a smooth return.

They said on the conference call today that first they have to send all the letters to the CAL people first, then its something like 14 days for them to reply, yes or no. Once they know who and how many are returning then class dates will be set up. Once they get that sorted then the UAL people next. So far some have gotten their letters, I have not and that's including today's mail.

As for your question......
It's clear, by way of the Merger Transition Agreement, that UAL Pilot furlough's will be given preferential/looked at first IF further staffing at CAL (being that the two pilot groups are separate till JCBA, followed by SLI) is required after/beyond the 147 CAL furloughed pilots have been 'recalled'.
Are there going to be an UAL Pilot's called upon??? I hope so.....but GW and his Man-Power Planning minons are the ones that will make that call if/when the time arises.
At least this is a step in the proper direction of getting guys/gals back to re-join the ranks in which they were hired to do.....fly planes.

Congratulations to the CAL guys getting their letters. It's a great feeling.
SoCal, just one nuance I have to point out:
The agreement says offered employment not "looked at first" or "preferential" anything.
8 days to one ticker symbol: UAL
Got SCOPE?

......and any future combine agreement will not have my vote unless it's as strong (or points North) from it presently stands as mentioned above.
FUPM.....and that DOES include SCOPE.

I wanted to ask if you or any other CAL pilots have updates on the recalls.
I hope you have your letter by now.
