Not an AAI/LUV pilot, but wouldn't it make sense you guys had scope language that would have prevented/slowed down the integration of the airlines? Most contracts do. I'm guessing this is the instant raise in exchange for enabling/speeding up the merger.

Do the SWA and AAI pilots not want this merger? Are they able to actually prevent or squash it?
interesting.

Just for the record, it's an acquisition not a merger.

To further clarify, it's an acquisition of one company, but a merger of the pilot groups. To wit, DAL acquired NWA, but pilot groups were merged principally by relative position.

You should read the Bond/McCaskill amendment. As far as the law is concerned, this is a merger transaction.

Just a guess, the majority of swa pilots do not want this to happen.

So I am starting to wonder who gave up....the company or the union? Just kinda ironic that a TA just pops up out of the blue after the announcement. I am in hopes that the union/pilot group got what they wanted or something remotely close and that the pilots will be treated closer to normal now. Best of luck to the AAI pilot group.

I do have a couple friends over at AirTran. They always say what a great group of pilots they have and how overall they really try to take care of each other. I remember a story of them volunteering to take pay cuts rather than furlough after 9-11 and also offering to do the same before the furlough a yr. or so ago. The environment they work in is another thing from the management side of the house and the reputation of their training department.........
The Southwest folks, well they have always had a very good reputation from not only the pilot group but also the management side.
Since I was corrected earlier about my mistake of using "merger" instead of acquire, does this represent what is in store for our professional brothers and sisters at AirTran.
Are they really about to be punished by the wolves in sheeps clothing. It will be a true test of the SWA pilot groups professionalism without a doubt. To the AirTran pilot group, good luck and I hope your careers did not go from growth and continued improvements in your quality of life to nothing but an angry, hostile work environment with constant disdain and hazing from a fellow employee once they say "Hi, how long you been here - oh...your Airtran!"
