The ATN Master Executive Council is pleased to report that the members of our Association have ratified Contract 2010, with 86.93 percent voting to approve the agreement. To those of you who answered the call to volunteer, to picket, to vote, or to take a stand and defend our current contract, we thank you.

The new pay rates will take effect on December 1, 2010, as will most of the provisions in the new contract. Other items will be phased-in over time, according to the implementation letter of agreement, which you can read here.

Over the coming months, an Implementation Committee, made up of pilot volunteers and company representatives, will work together to ensure a smooth transition to our new work rules. The MEC will provide guidance on more complex aspects of the deal to ensure all our members fully understand the terms of the agreement. Look for a hard copy of the contract to arrive at your home in the near future.

Thank you for your continued support.

In unity,

Your AirTran Master Executive Council

Acquisition, but that doesn't really matter as far as the SLI arbiter is concerned.

Honest question here ... is there ever really a merger? Doesn't one airline always buy another in these deals? Or are there deals where the two airlines came to some kind of mutual agreement to merge?

There always has to be an acquisition, because you have to have one of the carriers as a wholly owned subsidiary while you work on merging the operations and getting to a single operating certificate.

Exactly right...

I fly with a number of guys that say we should have done "better" in the SLI because we "acquired" NWA. After a bit of explaining and them not budging I generally give it up.

Did I hear correctly that you have allowed 86 seaters to be outsourced? 15 with up to 20.
