I had a question and didn't know which of the multitude of SWA related threads to ask it in. So I made this one. I included a picture.

Now my question:
What is the deal with SWA 737s autothrottles? Have they been removed? If so, why and what happens to Airtran autothrottles?

Isn't that the scratch and sniff part of the plane?
Serious question, I have been told that SW's pay scheme (by Legs?) actually pays higher than what the pay rate would have one think. How does that work? In just the most basic terms please. Thanks.

I'm not a SWA pilot but I was a flight attendant there for 12 years and we were paid the same. In the most basic terms, we were paid by distance. 1 TRIP FOR PAY (TFP) was 243 nautical miles, or the distance from DAL to HOU. That flight was usually blocked at :50 but you were paid 1 TFP. Every city pair had a corresponding TFP value. On top of this we had trip and duty rigs which would kick in. If I remember right the minimum pay for a three day was 19.5 TFP and 26.5 TFP for a four day. Hope this makes sense.

From: DOWNGRADE COMPLETE: Thanks Gary. Thanks SWAPA.
SWA guys, with regards to A/T usage on the 700s, what is the "company policy"? At AAI the AOM states that "Pilots will be proficient with all levels of automation" and that "The PIC will determine what level of automation is appropriate for the phase of flight/current flight environment".
The training dept teaches to keep the A/T on even with the autopilot off. Personally, I'm not very fond of that method, but whatever..... I know that some operators specify that if the A/P's off then the A/Ts must be as well. What's the decree from the training dept. and the current practice online? Thanks.

The swimsuit aircraft is no longer around. It was just a big decal or "wrap" that was removed after about 30 days.
As for the question about AT's and Autopilot. If the Autopliot is not on we can't use the AT's.

We get paid a trip rate. The easiest explanation is take trip rate x 1.13 and it equals an hourly rate.
