So try this story .there is an APB out for murder suspect . He is wearing blue jeans and a flannel shirt. He is caucasian. So you think the police are going to pick up all of the african americans wearing suits?? That would give the bad guy plenty of time to get away while the police wasted their time.Common sense=profiling-sad but true.

I agree with you. The problem a "questionable" character is a very braod term. Al I am saying is that most Americans (of any race) seem to believe a "questionable" character is anyone of arabic or middle eastern descent. Thats why I say what I say.
Also, I just spent a year in Iraq defending this nations freedoms and I personally saw the attitudes of American soldiers. SO I dont speak out of opinion, I speak from experience. Thanks.

This type of racial profiling hasn't just been a problem in the United States, as you saw from that article the problem is very prevalent in Europe. Also, in Australia where I'm from, about a year ago, a flight attendant for Qantas ordered the total and immediate evacuation of the aircraft. Everybody off, NOW...
What was the urgent and life threatening stimulus which triggered her reaction? Two middle-eastern men wearing robes and speaking Arabic. WWHHOOOOPS. Luckily she didn't speak for the whole of QANTAS and shortly afterward the CEO of the airline held a press conference in an attempt to reassure the arab world that they indeed wanted their business and that the actions of one woman with three braincells did not reflect the general feeling of the company.
COME ONN people, you can't not let people fly and have access to transportation just because they happen to look a little different and speak a different language to you. What are we back in the dark ages? What's next?? Muslim children of middle-eastern origin being turned away from public elementary schools because they happen to be different??
I'm not saying that the whole situation doesn't scare and worry me. It does. But there's no use stereotyping people and being prejudiced against the WHOLE demographic of arab people. This fight against evil and terrorism is only going to have a chance of succeeding if we fight for inclusion and equality rather than creating division and disharmony.

What was the point of relaying that anecdote? That's a hick flight attendant's paranoid reaction, and NOT what profiling is intended to be. One would have to be supremely naive to suggest that profiling is inherently unjust--every crime investigation involves some application of profiling. The issue is not that they "happen to look a little different and speak a different language to you." The issue is that they fit the religious and ethnic profile of terrorists who target western civilization. The idea that our enemies WANT "inclusion and equality" with us is absurd utopian nonsense.
Uncle Bose I'm not trying to say that placing people under more thorough scrutiny is wrong. What I'm trying to say is that people who aren't doing anything wrong and who are law-obiding citizens and who are fare paying customers and OUR FELLOW PILOTS should not be yanked off a plane on someone's moronic idea that the person was acting "suspicious". The muslims on those planes in Europe where who were hauled off the aircraft weren't doing anything suspicious, they were just speaking their native language! The people who complained to the airline officials who were responsible for getting the people thrown off are just like that Qantas flight attendant: stupid, ignorant and prejudiced. That's why I brought up that case to highlight the stupidity of these people.
Why don't we just not let anybody of Arab descent fly at all?? Hell while we're at it, lets stop people of palestinian origin and why not Indonesians too? I mean they're all terrorists, right?
I'm all for hightened scrutiny and more vigilance, but people being thrown off a plane for absolutely no good reason is totally unacceptable.
