Ah yes … dreaming the what if’s … I used to do something like this when I was a teenager building my first drag car ... get the parts catalogue and dream all day about what heads I would get and what thumpin’ cam would go best etc etc.
I ended up with a VW Bug. It was fast … but still a Bug.
I ended up being very happy and loving that Bug … and putting away my Blown Big-Block dreams.

Everytime a Fedex MD11 takes off there's about one million in revenue in back.
SWA 737 is looking at 130 X 150$ = $19,500.
In 23 years, almost every headache I've had has been passenger related.
Those boxes look better every day.

Not really an "apples to apples" comparison. And you might be suprised how many boxes SWA carries.

The one thing you can not compare though.. and I know some may roll eyes and laugh.. is the travel perk. My wife and I have been all over the world on DAL... and while you have limited benefit for that on SWA.. it is zero on FedEx... Like I said, not sayin that one is better than the other... just sayin'
But as you say.. almost every headache I have had too has been passenger related, but those are few and far... far between..

Give me a break on the Fed Ex. Vs. SWA. First do you have an interview with either airline? Second did you get the job offer from either airline? What gets me going about these types of questions is that a lot of people think they already have the job. I hear people talking all the time, " I am going to Jet Blue, Fed. Ex, UPS, SWA". I think to myself wow YOU must be special and you have not even gotten an interview!
Get a clue? If it is an upgrade from your current company and you want to move on then take the first airline that offers you the job.
I am going to NASA and be an astronaut. I have not gotten an interview but it is my right to get the job because I paid my dues flying a jet. Wake up!

Bolo... dude.. try decaf. The man is just asking the what ifs. This is a forum.. a place to exchange ideas. I don't think he said anything at all about being owed or having a right to either job. He's just asking about the pros and cons.

Interesting stat. So by comparison, FedEx pilots are vastly underpaid for the contribution they make to the company. Not saying one or the other is better.. but I find your quote interesting.

Yeah that's a really good point. For me personally I love SWA as a company but don't really enjoy flying on them and almost never buy tix for the family on them but, in general, those travel perks are great. I saw a UAL friend over in Europe last summer taking his 16 year old daughter on vacation and they flew intl business class the whole way (would have gone first but UAL has a policy against minors in the front for free) - now that's a fantastic perk - not to mention that your retired parents can also use it.
My parents did 3 international trips this year. Got business class on 5/6 segments and they went as S2s each time. Didn't cost a penny. It's nice to be able to do that for them.

Anyway, the best airline is the one that hires you. Worry about choosing when you actually have a choice to make and then consider yourself lucky to have that kind of problem.
